Possibly in todays climate. Saturday will give a good indication of how his chin holds up against a real banger (albeit at 200 lbs) now he says that weight draining hasn't been an issue this time, unlike the JMM fight.
Has to improve his defence as well tho, his left hand still stays worryingly low for me.

Hell, yeah! Its not like todays Heavyweights are anything special. Anyone with a bit of athletisism and a good punch with a fighters heart can dominate the current crop of roly-polys, primma -donnas, circus freaks, fatsos, and mambo kings.

Yes! He is skilled, has good speed, power and size and he is generally in good shape. He carries his left hand low so he is open to being hit and can be knocked down. So maybe he gets knocked out acouple of times. but he has the ability to do it.
I doubt he'll become a great in the true sense of the word, he's too open for that
He can definitely win a belt or two, make some big fights, and bring a bit of excitement in and out of the ring

He is certainly capable of it.
We'll know more when he gets hit when he isnt weight drained and see whether his chin improves when he stops draining himself. Even if he remains a bit chinny his offensive capabilities will most likely see him to an ABC title or two.

I think that he is overrated a bit. I think Big Mac may outbox him and knock him out. Haye for all his speed is not fundamentally sound at all. An intelligent boxer could take adavantage of his sloppy defense very easily. He was rocked many times by Mormeck, was behind on the scorecards I think at the time of the KO. He looks explosive against punchers, but then his opposition has been rather limited other than the Mormeck fight
I agree. There are a lot of flaws that should have been addressed already which can be attributed to being trained by a guy nobody's ever heard of.
I think part of the chin issue with Haye is that he doesn't know how to take a punch or to put it another way every time he gets hit he gets hit very flush. Maximum impact. He can't roll with a punch and his defence is almost non-existant.
I'm going with Enzo too, a high guard and intelligent pressure and he could dismantle Haye completely. Haye's a freakish puncher so he's got to not get hit though........

I believe he has the capabilities to become THE man at heavyweight. His power is awesome, and it has the potential to improve as he steps up in weight and is not drained as he currently is. The heavyweight division is not exactly heaped with talent and i think that Haye can clear them out. Even Wlad, whose whiskers are not what you would describe as teak tough. If Haye lands flush, wlad would be on his back for about 3 weeks.

A Cruiserweight with a lightheavyweight chin won't reign any heavyweight division.. He can make a few waves with his power and skills , but like Audley he will very soon get found wanting when his heart is questioned ...

I think atm haye can beat all the top 10 heavyweights

I don't even care if he can or can't, I just hope he makes a big enough splash at HW to get all those fat-asses into shape. Also a fight with Wlad would be exciting.

Likeable as David is , i wish he didn't have the small flaws surrounding his chin, but he does, He can beat everything below Samil San.. but at that top level amongst your Mcclines and Williamsons he gets his screws loosened .
I wish him well and carefully managed he can be a rich guy...
A top champ... NO..
God bless..
I think he can beat many fo the top ten, the thing that lets him down is his shaky chin and low defence, he will be knocked out eventually.
however look at the guys who have won world heavyweight titles in recent years, Haye will in my opinon become a heavyweight champion without doubt. He has already bulldozed his way to the linear 200lb championship and he beleive he is extrmely weight drained at that weight. Without weight making David could become fresher and stronger over 12 rounds.
The Heavyweight division needs guys like Haye. There is a huge question mark over Hayes abilities as a world class heavyweight, but im hoping haye will transform into a Heavyweight Nigel Benn, exciting big punches but vunrable enough to give his oponents a chance, hence making great heavyweight fights.
I cant remember the last heavyweight fight i truly enjoyed from start too finish!

JC , I see exactly where you are coming from , but it will take a great amount of self admittance to work around his chin.. He would beat most of the british heavyweights .. Sprott , Harrison, McDermott but when you start stepping amongst even your Dominick Guinns you are going to see David struggle.. He needs to slow his roll and move up against men like Willie Chapman and Oleg Platov.. there is no reason why he wont be fine with the flaws he has as long as he reminds himself of his limitations.. he might do ok.. there are no certainties.. God bless..
Yes he can win a belt against one of the current mob, can he unify all the belts and become THE champ? No

Nope. Too small and his chin would not stand up against the elite Heavyweights.
Id be interested if anyone can remeber any articales from the late 80s just before Holyfield went to heavy? Does anybody know if there was any simlarities to haye situation. Was the general consensus that Holyfield was going to fall short?

Haye gets decapitated against Wlad. However he has a great chance of beating ALL the rest as they are shit and have only size as an advantage. He is a better boxer with better speed and power than all of them. Wlad is everything that Haye is but better in every department and bigger.
Hence why there is not contest for him at the division because it is so bile inducingly awful.

His speed is a major asset, he will be harder to hit against the slow motion heavies. His power is immense plain and simple. He could knock Wlad out no doubt about it. That’s a fight i want to see

That fight would be a massacre. One simple reason
Haye has a low left hand
Wladimir has the best jab in boxing.
Equals=Destruction.
Haye doesnt have the chin to take any of his shots
Haye has a very good amateur background and a powerful lightning fast jab himself. He's got the tools to smash up that division and i hope he does cos its full of fat eastern european durable bums

Definitely an ABC holder, not sure about being THE man though.
There's a danger in overlooking Macca though, let's not go counting any chickens yet...

Hayes style is little like all or nothing. He can KO anyone, but also everyone can KO his...if fight's with wlad goes more than 1 round, haye is doomed..
[quote=SuperPunchOut]Hey hang on a second the heavyweight champ has a glass jaw so the arguments that haye cant because of his chin seem flawed
Well,Haye' s chin cant be called iron either, can it !
And so far Haye has only once fought at the big boys' league-against a mediocre Polish journeyman who had never defeated any decent fellow heavy before.
Haye is an unproven question mark at heavy weight+the big boys have more pop in their fists than the ones at cruisers.
Haye has genuine firepower. No doubt about that, but his chin will be his downfall at heavy weight. He cant knock all his foes that quickly out-one of them will catch him with a good punch.

Well see. If he does his usual rushing attack on Big Mac and then he gets uppercutted and timed coming in and laid out, we'll have an answer. Not saying that will happen, but after watching the Mormeck fight, Im not entirely sold on him. He just has many flaws of the kind that would be hard to get rid of.
Haye is big for a Cruiserweight, and you cant argue about power, but his defense is lousy, and at HW he is going to be fighting guys as big or bigger than him.
Like I said, Saturday will reveal a great deal
He was fighting the number one in the division who had only lost once in 10 years. It was a tough fight and he KO'd him...
Very few fighters fight a perfect fight. that was a world level fight. The left arm thing is laying traps. it's the way he fights tucking his chin behind his shoulder. He's got good all round skills including defence imo. Very good head movement and reflexes, front and back foot fighter.
You can see a heavyweight trying to land a powershot over that low arm and getting laid out by the right cos theyre so slow

No he won't.
Haye's trainer wants to bulk him up even more once he moves to heavyweight when he already walks around at 230.

If Haye Whips Enzo Then He Could Make Some Noice At Hw. He Is 6'3" With A 80 1/2" Reach, He Can Box Relaxed And He Punches Heavily. Only One Fight Of His As Gone The Distance. He Does Have A Suspect Stamina And Was Ko'd In His Only Loss But Has Rebounded Nicely And Is On The Verge Of Becoming The Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion Of The World. Evander Holyfield Only Took 4 Big Fights At Hwt In A 2 Year Span ( 1988-1990) To Be A Wbc-wba Top Contender - Quick Tillis, Pinklon Thomas, Michael Dokes And Alex Steward ( Not Counting With Seamus Mcdonaugh, Adilson Rodrigues), And James Toney Took On Holyfield Himself before title shot at Ruiz And Guinn Before A WBC Title Shot At Rahman... Haye Needs To Make A Name For Himself In The States Though, Take On Names Like Rahman, Toney And Then A Big Eliminator Against Another Up-coming Heavie, impressive kayo wins would help a hell of a lot.

Stop sounding like a "nuthugger." If he's getting KTFO by smaller men already, the probability to win the HW crown is slim to none..

DAVID HAYE- "Look at (Wladimir) Klitschko the other night. It was an embarrassment to boxing what he did. He should be stripped of his title just for that performance alone. It was a disgrace. And I can’t wait to go up and knock that bum out.
I'm going to do to him (Klitschko) what Corrie Sanders did to him with that speed and make him run like a bitch. I'm going to go out there and knock him out. He's my No. 1 target at the moment. People regard Klitschko as the No. 1 fighter in the world. So after this fight, that's what I'm going after. He can try to hide as much as he wants, but I'm going to track him down and take him out."
