I just read it on another site...Fernando Motiel split with GBP right before his fight on Saturday in which he fights his fellow Mexican Cecilio Santos. He had to pay GBP 115 thousand dollars to break his contract and all ties with GBP. He was able to pay GBP using his savings, bank loan and an advance from his fight this upcoming saturday. He felt the relation was not what he expected...he felt especially dissapointed that he had to fly to the Phillipines for his fight but his stable mate all had their opponents flown to their respective backyards.

I dont blame him, GBP has been neglecting him and making him only fight 1 or 2 times a year.

Montiel is a very talented fighter, I just hope another promoter can make the most out of his ability and manage him better

ehh...it's too bad the Darchinyan fight didn't come off a while back...Montiel would have KO'd him, too.

What promoter will give him a 100k bonus for signing a contract.Montiel would have been better off fighting out his contract with GBP and then become a free agent.Bad choice and bad advice.:-(
GBP was merely enforcing their rights as a contracted promoter.

GBP was merely enforcing their rights as a contracted promoter.we don't know what the contract damanded from Motiel...who's to say it wasn't a 10 year contract full of bullshit demands.
