Dawson - Zambidis - anyone go?

Only to be pissed off with the final decision, i thought it was a bit of a bullshit decision - i had Dawson winning and comfortably.

Dawson was outlanding with jabs, knees and kicks....Zambidis spent most of the fight swinging wildly and missing and chasing Dawson. When Zambidis did eventually land there was something coming straight back....He never hurt or rocked Dawson and Zambidis from where i was went down from a kick which took his legs out and wasnt called......

Zambidis came in flurries but Dawson was in control i thought all fight, never really looked trouble and was landing his fair share.

bullshit decision, Dawson got skrewed out of a world title, you could tell he couldnt believe it on his face.....maybe it was just where i was sitting or what i was looking for but i thought it was a load of crap. anyone agree?

Just as well it wasn't Muay Thai, it tends to be slower paced and more technical than most kickboxing matches. It's a bit like jiu-jitsu/wrestling, doesn't have a huge 'casual' fan base, definitely not as easy on the eyes as boxing is for the average onlooker.

its way harder then people think, its easy for mike to land punches on someone like gurkan ozkan who has no defence for boxing, or no reflexes like a boxer because during a fight but against someone with more class they will get murdered, i.e. i couldnt picture mike zambidis coming close to like a daniel dawson type fighter but maybe he can get to ryan waters for that fact..... i even think junior would be too much for him

Exactly. I think Zambo would have his work cut out just tryin to beat an Aussie or regional champ let alone anyone better.

JUST a little bit of info on mike here ,mike was a boxer before he started kickboxing ,he was the national greek champion when he was like 16 fighting guys much bigger in their 20s and 30s ,he was selected to fight at the athens olympic games provided he ditched his kickboxing sponsorships .ive trained with australian champions and trained with mike ,he is on a different level . remember bassim chami fenechs up and comer,god bless his soul, zambo fought in melbourne went to fenechs gym the next day sparred chami with no headgear and 16 ounce ,basim had headgear ,mike anialated him,they stopped the sparr ,bassim was gettin hurt ,billy jumps in and goes thats enough. freddie roach has contacted mike and asked him to make the transition.

mike loves kickboxing to much though.man if u guys watch him train ,hes a monster . remember why mike tyson was so successful against all his bigger opponents,power and speed to weight ratio was phenomonal,combine that with skill, heart and chin and there you go a monster is made.:yep

I have looked and looked and have never found any evidence of any Zambidis boxing bout. Furthermore have never found any evidence of any Olympic team consideration let alone selection. Can you provide these elusive stats? You would think that somewhere there would be some form of results recorded but absolutely nothing.

once again its corruption lol as i said before it was in greece.... just like the euro cup you couldnt seriously believe they won that fair and square could you???? the olympics were well behind schedule and they needed a boost(i have a few theories)
zambidis wouldnt beat alot of boxers outside australia, he struggled with ozkan who had a war with chong nee, so there wouldnt be much room for improvement.... especially at zambos age...but i still reckon zambo is a crazy fighter, he possesses good power

What about qualifying bouts for the team? There is absolutely no record of any boxing fight that I have ever found. And forget the "Its in Greek" excuse - I have Greek relatives in the fight game and they have not heard anything about 40 fights let alone 40 wins.

dont know any thing bout 40 fights for 40 wins,dnt know who mentioned that ,but he was amature boxing champion of greece.because greece doesnt have pro boxing he turned to kickboxing and made a name for himself there,because of his star status and notoriety the greek boxing authority offered him a spot at the athens games to fight for greece providing he give up his kickboxing sponsorships,mike considered this and refused.
