Kessler is on the limp of getting a Taylor fight.. Why on earth would he fight Miranda instead? Granted hes a very powerful and good fighter, but Kessler will me way too much for Miranda.. running from him? hah! He might have refused to fight in USA, but why should he fight where Miranda is favoured when he is the main man of the two.. If he cant get Taylor then it would be a fairly good rebound fight for Kessler though.

This is why it still amazes me today how people here on ESB can legitimately claim Kessler wasn't something special while more to the point admit just how good Joe really is.

People seem to have selective memories - I recall the run up to the fight here, shesh, Joe was 50/50 if not the underdog but done the business confidently. I recall the run up to that fight and Joe's mannerisms, he was so sure, not rude, disrespetful, just sure. Then the weigh in came......wow! Everyone @ work came to the office to see it - we were pumped! Joe got his props then the "Who's Kessler fought" arguments started........:nono

Kessler was close to getting the upper hand against Calzaghe, especially in the first 5 rounds. I think Calzaghe's chin, tenacity and awkwardness just broke his will, but he laced Calzaghe with some beautiful counters and he didn't utilise that upper cut that caught Joe with the best punch of the fight (possibly tied with Calzaghe's body shot in the 9th or 10th when the ref saved Kessler).

But one thing annoys me...the guy is taking far too long to make a comeback.

If he doesn't want Miranda he better get himself a fight with Winky or Taylor soon or he's going to end up regressing.

I'd pick him easily over anybody not named Joe Calzaghe from 168 downwards. In fact, I can't see too many beating him at 175 either. Pavlik would get get beaten to the jab all night and Taylor's too lazy, both in his guard and output, to either stop him or outpoint him. The only person with the skill and speed to really get to him is Dawson, but he's not blessed with a strong enough chin for me to confidently claim he can go 12 with Mikkel. Excellent fighter.

Yeah but his chin is still almost untested - we saw him on the floor against Adamek but he recovered pretty good.
