Anyone hear anything about this fight? It was supposed to be close to being official and set for this month, until they announced Berto would be fighting Cosme Rivera instead. :huh

Supposedly, talks have re-surfaced in the last week. After Berto disposes of Rivera, it should be official. Can't wait to see Berto vs a live opponent! As for Quintana, fighting Berto would be a terrible choice for a return fight.

Quintana would have a shot to upset another rising power puncher

I hope so, I wanna see Berto exposed. He has a lot of physical ability, but he doesn't have the skills yet. People see him beat up complete bums and think he's all lgreat for it. Hell, Capfunds actually thinks this kid could KO Mayweatheer.

He looks very stiff in the ring to me...I woudn't be surprised to see him outboxed

After a few attempts a return. First he was sick, then the other two offers did not satify Quintana money wise. Carlos Indio Quintana is finally returning since his loss to Miguel Cotto.

We are working out a 3 fight deal - Rafael Joglar

It would be a package with Northeast Promotions & another major promotinal company ( Possible Dibella ). - Rafael Joglar

The first fight will be beggining of August but not televized.

The second fight will be on 09/29 undercard of Jermain Taylor vs Pavlik

The Third fight against Berto in a #1 contender fight

What have you seen that makes you think that? Even if Berto's power holds up at the elite level, it took Cotto five rounds to put Quintana away. In other words: the guy doesn't submit to just one money shot even from an elite puncher. And you think Berto has the skill to a) mow him down en route to a KO by attrition, or b) outbox him? Fat chance, based on what I've seen of both.

I think Berto should fight Julio first or maybe Alfsonso Gomez (after Gomez beats Gatti); he needs better competition. Quintana maybe too much for Berto right now.

That's why it should happen. I want to see Carlos stay active and gather some good trophy heads so he can stay in the contention mix (though Miguel has his number for life, so that's a tree never worth barking up again). I don't know that a loss right now would hurt Berto that badly. He's still exciting, and with the *****s in his armor right now it's a matter of 'who and when', not 'if'. May as well get it over with and start to rebuild while Quintana is in the process of doing the same.

It's not like Quintana has fought a bunch of great opposition himself. He beat overhyped Joel Julio and then got smashed up against Cotto. Not sure why everyone wants to overrate Qunitana based on that. As for Berto if he beats Rivera (who I thought beat Julio BTW), Quintana is a good step up. Sure Berto's defense is a bit lacking but he does have really nice offensive skills. Including a real good jab, something that Julio didn't have. Lots more speed than Julio as well. In short Quintana-Berto is a fight I want to see.

The fight I wanna see is Julio/Berto. I'd like to see if Berto could take Julio's power.

Being from Lakeland Florida which is right next to Winter Haven (Berto's hometown. I'd love to see Berto be the next great thing since Roy is at the end of his career. Hopefully he isn't a hype job but from what i've seen in the gym he's a monster, His power in both hands is rare, but he definitly needs to work on some things which i'm sure will come with the experience

A make or break fight if Berto took it this early.
