I know its pretty random and also a non oz topic but......
Shit haye is a top fighter.Really looks the goods.
And the power....
With his conditioning and power he is a real threat to all the title holders in the heavyweight division.
I just cant get over his right hand.
I seen maccarneli(spelling) fight twice when in uk and knew he wasnt that great so didnt really jump on the hype train for the bout. But 2nd round k.o...
What do all you think about haye's chances as a heavy??
Hes 6ft3 and apparently is more suited for 220pounds(a weight i think heavies should be at) so ad******g shouldnt be too much of a problem.

His chin is the only thing that may hinder his chances at heavyweight. He is an exciting guy to watch though. It will be interesting to see whether he can be as dominant as a heavy.

His conditioning will actually be his problem I reckon.
The only time he went 12 rounds he throw like 17 punches and he was out on his feet against Thompson after less than 5.
He will rip through many fat and cumbersone heavies but he will get knocked out eventually, maybe against someone who isnt even that good. Definitely against someone like Wlad.
Awesome, Awesome offensive fighter though. Amazing speed, power and explosivness for a guy his size, love watching the guy fight.
The HW division may lack that certain quality Haye has but some of them big boys dont go down on the first, second or even 100th right hand they cop and have plenty of energy to land their own.
Just looking at him makes me think he is a little chinny.
Well he's the sort of guy that makes exciting fights, the lacklustre HW division needs someone like him at the moment.

Yeah David Haye is 1 of my favourite boxers to watch at the moment.
He will definitely be quite a force at heavyweight.
Will be hard for him to beat some of the top guys like Klitschko tho.
At least u no he will be in exciting fights along the way. No complaints from me.

i think he will not go to well, holyfield had an amazing chin and stamina to overcome the size difference, at heavyweight his power will be normal compared to the top guys and his stmaina is already a weakness without the extra muscle

Hopefully he can get serious about his roadwork, word is that he doesn't like it much.
I think he can be a great Heavyweight if he works on his defence and footwork to compensate for his seemingly shaky chin, he also seems to rely too much on his power in the fights i've seen, should work on some setup punches but i think he's going for the Roy Jones style so i don't think we'll see that too soon.
Regardless it'll be good to see a heavyweight who is a great athlete and atleast looks the part.

That's true but Holyfield had to fight much better guys than the ones that are around now. People seem to think Klitschko is great but i don't see it, too mechanical and can be taken out. Who else is there, Peter? Getting fatter and worse as time goes on. There's the russians but they're undersized and lacking power.
I really think Haye can dominate if he improves his stamina.

Wow I should read this forum more often, this is the most honest, nuthugger-free David Haye thread on ESB at the moment. Never believed in all my days I'd see Aussies debating in such a civil and restrained manner!!
For what its worth I've been following David Haye's career since before he turned pro, and he always looked like he was going to be something special. He's looked like a champion in waiting since his first pro fight. He's probably the most naturally gifted offensive heavyweight since a Prime Ibeabuchi, Tua or, dare I say it, Tyson. He's never been in a boring fight, and I've seen everyone of 'em, and he's got great charm and charisma which could make him a star if he can back it up in the ring.
I dont think he'll retire unbeaten, I can just see him being stopped with a single punch against some 250lbs Heavyweight, someone who takes all the Haye bombs and gets lucky in the 11th round when Haye's tired, but it will a thrilling ride regardless. On his night he could KO just about any heavyweight in the division.
I dont think Haye will amount to anything more than Audley Harrison in my view.
He has a shitload of fights ahead of him before i will say he has a shot at being known as a good HW.

I don't know mate, he's improving and he's beaten some tough guys, i wouldn't call him Harrison.
The guys that are gonna give him problems are technical boxers with good chins and i can't think of any at the moment. Guys like Solis in the amateurs who stopped him, that sort. But still you could argue that if that fight was a pro fight Solis would've been out from the Haye uppercut in the opening round, he was badly hurt.

Nah Audley Harrison is the exact opposite. David Haye comes to fight, he's not cautious and he fights with passion. Audley Harrison has mental problems which leave him terrified of being aggressive.
Harrison has this very awkward, southpaw style. He has fast hand and a long reach, so he stays out of range and pot-shots with his jab, times for when the opponent is diving in and then lets rip with the big southpaw left on the counter. He always waits for the opponent to step in, which means he spend ages doing fuck all. Its a very negative style and it doesn't utilize his physical gifts, his natural power and technical ability. That why we see a 6ft6, 260lbs monster cowering like a little girl against Dominick Guinn and Michael Sprott.
Haye on the other hand is nothing like as big and has a totally different style. The guy is skinny compared to Harrison, but he fights like a madman. He leaves the left hand low, enticing the opponent to make a move and snap their jab out, and throws massive right-hand bombs over the top of it. He also likes to charge forward throwing combinations, big bodyshots and uppercuts, he's got massive attacking repetoir.
Haye is much more likely to win a world title than Harrison ever was, for the last 8-9 years he's been talked about as Britain's best chance at the Heavyweight title, rather than Audley Harrison. Which shows how much of a fucking let-down Harrison actually was.

Jury is still out about Haye as Heavyweight but you can't deny
a) the man has charisma and is fun to watch
b) many fans will want to see his heavyweight journey, however successful it may be. Hell i am much keener to see Haye's next fight than Klitchkos !
c) Haye looks like a fighter, top physique. Been a while since a top heavyweight has looked like a true elite athlete (not saying others aren't or saying that looks make a fighter, but you know what i mean, looking the part attracts fans, it's why Rhianna is the top of the charts and that fat Australian Idol winner Ricki Lee from a few years back faded badly). People want to see attractive people on their tv set.
d) He has genuine talent. Sure there are a lot of holes, but he can work on them

with all the discussion one thing we can all agree on pass or fail hayes heavyweight venture is exciting, i was left uninspired watching peter maskaev and klitschko ibragimov

Haye already has won a world title, he is the unified champion at cruiser.... If you mean at heavyweight though, then he certainly is a better chance then harrison. The funny thing is they both look similar, both fight out of the UK, and both have suspect chins. Haye is certainly the better fighter however, as you stated.
with all the discussion one thing we can all agree on pass or fail hayes heavyweight venture is exciting, i was left uninspired watching peter maskaev and klitschko ibragimov Understandably so, it was a couple of very lacklustre performances. The exact reason why the heavyweight division bores me. At its peak, the heavyweight division had good big guys, who could box and move, and would throw combinations. Now its just big freakshows who plod along. Wlad fights like a scared girl, when in reality he is just leagues above anyone else in the division. I like watching the smaller heavies like Chambers and Povetkin fight though, they have decent skills, and throw more then 20 punches a round.

Im sure you guys might think im kidding myself but Haye honestly reminds me of the man in my avatar.
Devastating attack, known for their big one punch, apparent shaky chin and eventhough they both always look like they are in great physical condition they have stamina issues.
Forget the skin and nationality.lol.
Haye should fight john ruiz as his first heavyweight fight for a title eliminator seeing ruiz won this weekend.Completely silence the quiet man for good.
Haye aint going to get hurt by ruiz and everytime he goes for the bearhug just pop the mug with the hayemaker.
Nice debut at heavyweight.Dominating a former world champion.

Good comparison, apart from skin and nationality obviously. I don't think Haye will have the power that Morrison did at heavy though... But on the upside he is a bit quicker both with his hands and feet. The Quiet man would still be a dangerous first fight due to his akward style, although i would love to see him become much quieter.

I have to disagree. Haye thrives on the challenge and is very vocal about fighters who avoid the big challenge.
He always looks to step up, always takes the toughest he can find.
While he was a mandatory for the CW title he took on well ranked (though not very good) genuine heavy. He had everthing to lose and did it anyway for shits and giggles. He wouldnt even have been paid much for that. He's unified a division in 21 fights.. thats (almost) unheard of.
He wont be looking for easy tune up fights but top 15 guys and big names right from the off. He'll be manadatory on one belt or other in 2 or three fights max.... if he keeps winning of course.
When i said Audley i was more talking about his appearance and the fact he could have a shaky chin. Something about Haye just oozes "short term" to me.

I like Cunningham, I did a round by round on here for his last fight against Marco Huck where he broke Huck down with a great display of clean and accurate punching.
He doesn't beat Haye though, Haye is way too powerful and Cunningham hasn't got enough power to keep him off.
There is absolutely no point in the fight either. The situation is the same as Calzaghe's in that the only reason Haye hasn't got all 4 belts is that the IBF stripped Bell for taking a Mormeck rematch rather than fighting his mandatory. The IBF are strict with mandatories so it's almost impossible to unify and keep the IBF. There's also no money for Haye in a Cunningham fight and it won't make much difference in improving his marketability at heavy.
David Haye owns the Cruiserweight divison. His speed, boxing ability and power are unreal. This guy has a fantastic amatuer pedigree, and has now got very good experience as a pro. I can forsee him making the change to heavyweight very well, and dominating guys like Brock, Maskaev, Imbragimov, Peter, Chagaev ect ect. Way too fast for these guys, and still with enough power to really hurt them if he lands consistently.
