View Full Version : Calzaghe is ducking XXXX to fight Kessler!

Once again, Calfaggi has taken the soft option - staying at home against another euro-bum instead of going to the States to REALLY prove himself... I used to be a fan but this guy really is a joke and I've had enough of him. He must be scared after he saw Pavlik last time and after calling out Jermain Taylor for ages, he chooses the easy option against a boxer nobody has even heard of in the US.
There were many people he could have faced:
Berrio - he punches too hard
Froch - see above
Mundine - he's too quick and Australian for Calslappy
Taylor - would have whooped his ass period
Dawson - KO1
Glen Johnson - too big and strong, Calzaghe has ducked him twice
RJJ - Joe would have laid a glove on him even though he's shot
Pavlik - first punch KO!I actually defended Joe and thought that he was not to blame for a fight with Ottke not taking place but now he's stooped to this new level, I think Joe was too chicken shit to fight the great German.
Joke Calfaggi 43-0 (32 paid refs to stop the fights), can't even punch properly and 21 bogus defences - ducking the big challenges again.

This guy to my knowledge is a Calzaghe fan. I have a feeling he is talking all this shit so people will take Joe's side so he can know that everyone appreciates Calzaghe, or something like that anyways.
No, I think he really he really is a Calzaghe hater. I don’t agree no every point he makes. But a lot of his arguments make sense. E.g. Dawson and Johnson being to big and strong to be bewildered by slaps and so fourth.

Nobody can say Joe ducks the big fights anymore
He never did, he just was not even considered a serious name before the Lacy fight, while being extremely dangerous to anyone as we all know. Did everyone see how hard it was to get this Kessler fight materialised?
Multiply that by about 3 times and it explains why others fell through each time pre-Lacy and thereby pre-universal respect of the mans ability by boxing fans.
Calzaghe is a warrior, he's grinded out wide decision wins on two occassions with broken hands, he's taken big punches due to him being a volume puncher and he broke his hand in the ninth versus Lacy, but kept throwing like a machine in an effort to put the guy away until the final bell. He's as tough as nails, the hate is ridiculous.

Come on folks...
PrideofWales is just trying to make sure that if Joe beats Kessler noone will ever again say Joe is ducking someone. His obvious plan is to create strong sentiments against the ridiculous attitude that Joe should be ducking someone to fight Kessler. And he then hopes that people's strong sentiments against "Joe is ducking..." will carry on after this fight.
Personally I don't think PoW even need bother setting this up because IF Joe can beat Kessler then he can beat the rest too and will not need this "ducking-insurance".

I’m not sure if I can follow this tread. By the way Kessler is half English and half Danish – and not Swedish.
I don’t think PrideOfWales is joking. He just can’t see that there is so much brilliance in JC’s career.
Being a chap/champ at only a minor WBO-division for 10 years, never moving up a division and the like.
He’s getting older and thereby loosing muscles, and therefore wanting to fight the slim middelweights like Taylor, who’s used to fighting welterweights and the like? But Taylor's skills would have exposed JC. And JC’s slaps will do no harm no bigger guys like Dawson. So PoW makes a lot of good points in this tread. But perhaps he’s exaggerating a bit.:huh

Wladimir is a heavyweight and is too big. JC first have to prove himself against a cruser like Dawson, or against a real big and stronger SMW, like Kessler. And as JC's only has the power of a big middleweight, this will be to much for him, I think. :huh

Once again, Calfaggi has taken the soft option - staying at home...
Berrio - agree,
Froch - agree Froch has 17 KOs in 21 fights (81 pct. KO-rate), JC only has 32 KOs in 43 (74 pct. KO-rate)
Mundine - has a very fast jab that JC would have difficulties escaping (Mundines jab is almost as fierce as Kessler's)
Taylor - hmm - perhaps Joe would have the physical power to match him. A even fight.
Regaring the cruriserweights - they're simply just too big.:deal

Peter, why are you taking this so seriously?
Some times the best way to difuse Irony is to pretend to take it seriously.
"Yeah, you are really clever!" (Ironoy)
"Well... I wouldn't go that far myself, but yesterday the professor actually said somethign to the same effect. But I am really far to modest to ever be able to claim to be very clever" (answer)
Usually.. that returns the initiative since the other guy more often than not has no answer to that.
....I am not sure if that is what Peter is doing or not though... :think

It's not po-faced enough to be return irony, because the responses are too reasonable. For irony to work in return you need to introduce the ridiculous to it.
"Well, Joe might beat Wlad, but Briggs would give him a kicking" sort of thing.
Depends what he wants to do.
By doing what you said he is validating the other guys irony. Sort of like "yeah, I got it.. hehehe let's both laugh". and then the guy that was ironic first feels good. A la :good
If he however, makes it so that the ironic guy really doesn't know whether the other guy is ironic or not then the mumble mumble happens.. A la :?
So yeah... if Peter was returning the favor he was definitely NOT doing it to make the start poster feel good and know that "yeah, I got it.. this ridiculous exaggeration clearly shows I got it hehehe". Nah, IF he is returning then he is doing it the :? way. Sadly, I am leaning towards Peter just being serious...
Maybe a language issue..:huh

No - I didn’t mention Briggs. Joe will be able to circle inside and out on Briggs, as Briggs suffers from asthma. Regarding Wlad, I just can’t see Joe beating him. Joe would have to gain weight to be able to match him physical. The older you get the more the weight also will be concentrated around the mid-section. That meaning, Joe wouldn’t be as fast. He would then have to stand toe-to-toe with Wlad. Joe to win such a fight would demand very very fast combos. :huh

:yep At last somebody has seen the light.... but it's often said that good eyesight is attributed to (dangling) carrots :huh

Yes - I miss Ottke a lot. Defensive fighters not always get the credit they rightly deserve.
Undefeated in 34 bouts – defending his IBF-title 21 times. Beating JC by one title defence – but in one of the real boxing organisations, so to speak. .:boxing1

Hmmm...
Should I continue this by saying "And Ottke certainly had the one punch KO power to be a threat to ANY former or present fighter!" and post a pic of Mundine on the floor?
Or..
Should I shake my head at all the lemmings trying on the newfound irony in themselves wanting to show "I can be ironic too!!!!! I can.... I really can...".

I'm also thinking about reply to your message in one of two ways:
1. I could write a direct reply to you and ask you what your underlying issue is with this thread as you seem to have a keen interest in it but want to cast shadows over what people are saying. Or;
2. Like you, I could really annoyingly describe my thought process throughout the reply.
I think I'll go with the first one.

The fact that so many people thought this guy was serious is unbelievable.
If not for the overt sarcasm laced liberally in the post as the main tip off, the guy has a picture of JC as his avatar! Hardly the doing of a hater...

I was disappointed when Joe said there was "no way" he would fight Sugar Ray Robinson to determine who was the greatest of all time.
He's clearly just not wanting the fight - saying he was "dead" and "too past it" to be a challenge just proves how scared Joe is. He'd rather fight Kessler that the GOAT.
I know Ali is past it, but Jones Jr beat a HW, Ali's name is at least as good as Ruiz's, even past it a little bit.
Still a dangerous fight though, HW KO power and Ali's remaining speed.

Too dangerous for Fwank ****** to make this fight unless he made Ali sign a contract that signs over all of Ali's royalties to Sports Network as well as Layla Ali's remaining career (another defence of the WBO for Joe?). Even then, Calfaggi would pull out because he was too chicken shit.

Not that I am really laughing about you.. I see your point, but the way you bring is just hilarious , Man I got tears in my eyes
Calzaghe is taking on the best next like he did when he fought Lacy, there is no way in hell anyone would say Calzaghe should've fought someone else, his next fight is what almost everyone wanted him to go for.
Good joke though, should shut up some haters.

Nobody can say Joe ducks the big fights anymore
How does taking two big names in the past couple years negate not fighting any top competition in their primes for the 5 years before that?
If Calzaghe wins and keeps his level of competition high, then he has the chance for his career path to be eerily similar to that of Hopkins...
