Just a reminder to my fellow ESB friends.. Joel Julio will be fighting Cornelius "K9" Bundrage tonight on ESPN 2 Wednesday Night Fights. Bundrage is the guy from the Contender series who got knocked out by Sewchell Powell. I'm going with Julio by KO because K9's chin can't be that great if he got starched by Powell. But Julio didn't look that great against Cosme Rivera.. And to be honest I thought Cosme won that fight but they gave it to Julio.. I'm still going with Julio by KO though.. If he loses to Bundrage he might as well hang them up :bbb

Thanks for the reminded (I forget about this). I have met K9 Bundrage a few times, but I think Joel Julio knocks him out.

Yes, Bundrage doesn't hit hard and doesn't like pressure, not to mention his chin is pissy.

I checked my guide earlier and there is a minor league all-star game starting at 8 so i thought there was no boxing tonight. When i read your post (i checked again) i discovered it starts at 11. I would have missed it. Thanks for the heads up:good

Should be a good fight.

I'm going with the underdog in K9, I think K9's strength advantage will be too much for Joel to overcome.

Another good fight for ESPN. I think Julio is getting back on track and while Bundrage isn't bad I just don't think he's on the same level as Julio. I'll take Julio by mid rounds stoppage.

Julio looks much better now than in his last outdoor summer fight, but he still seems way too hittable for someone who moves as much as he does. It's like he has a bad case of epilepsy or something, yet, even the limited K-9 is able to time his movements and hit him easily. I guess I'm still not a believer.

Considering who's at 154 these days, he still has a chance at cleaning up in that division though, if he doesn't go back to welter.

What a shot Bundrage took! I give him props for hainging in there.

Not too impressed with Julio anymore.. I don't think he has what it takes to compete with the top guys in the division.. He's way to easily hit and he hasnt been doin that great against average fighters like Cosme Rivera and now K9 Bundrage who only had 3 weeks to train

Its the 5th round and Bundrage is already winded.. I don't expect this fight to last too long now

A fight against Cintron would be interesting!

Brickhaus

the top guys are elite fighters...PBF, Cotto, Mosley, Marg...but I can see a great fight with Cintron

He's been fighting at 154 since Quintana. I't pretty apparent from his looks that he could get back down to 147 if he needed to, since that's where the big money is, but it might be a better career move to make his name at 154 since the division is pretty weak at the moment.

No he hasnt.. He's been fighting at 147 and also fought Quintana at 147. And this fight is also at 147

Last 3 fights were at 152. They did say that tonight's was welterweight, so yeah, I'm confused.......... OH he goes down!!!

I guess for purposes of the *burp* sanctioning organizations, the fights have been at welter, even though he's been 5 pounds over limit for each. He seemed weight-drained against Quintana, and I question whether he'd look very good against any top-10 welter if the catch weight is actually 147. No matter what, he'll be someone's mandatory pretty soon, since he's ranked so highly by all of the orgs. I wouldn't be shocked if he pushes for Cintron's belt, since he's the only one Julio stands a chance of beating.

Yes, if he had a workrate and was polished a bit more, he'd have ended that one in the 1st or 2nd.

K-9 sucks! He fights just like VB. He kept that left down around his knee. You could tell his corner was telling him to keep his left up cause at the start of each round he would have his left up in guard real nice but after 5-10 sec he would lower it:nut for the rest of the round. I bet he was driving his corner CRAZY. It agravated me so much i turned the channel and watched Holly Holm fight Sucarato (or something like that). Pretty good fight:good She (Holm)is fine as wine:yep and is a real good boxer

Exactly. And if I hadn't had computer probs this week, you KNOW I would have been on here saying EXACTLY that.

Frankly, I'm surprised Bundrage lasted as long as he did. Wish I'd been able to stay awake to see it!!

What the hell is with ESPN that they push live fights to 11 to show MINOR LEAGUE baseball?? I mean, I love baseball, it's my second favorite sport - but c'mon! :patch

Too bad you were preoccupied and couldn't come on here and slash that chin out, but as you can see, I held up the fort for the chin checking game.:good

I'll tell you why Bundrage lasted that long -

He ran well, held and the fact that Joel Julio is not very active, often taking 30 seconds off when he had Bundrage in perfect spots for fight ending counters.... Julio was rather docile, but he has improved some.

If Julio was a bit more polished and could keep a workrate going, Bundrage would have been laid out in the 1st or 2nd.

I do think Julio does have good power though, he really just needs to work on form.

Anybody that gets sparked by Sechew Powell in the 1st round can't take a shot to save his life.

Julio looked pretty good last night and show'd a good chin in takin K-9's right hand but he needs to improve on his defense.

Not to mention, when Bundrage wasn't holding or backpedaling, he was holding Julio at bay by keeping him at arm's length. Sometimes it was a pawed out jab that just lingered, but there were several instances where he just fully extended (not punched, mind you...unfurled like a drugged octopus) his arm right in Julio's grill while leaning back and wincing in anticipation of any bombs that might sneak around his 'talk-to-the-hand' defense. Now, I'm not sure what's in the books as far as that goes, but were I the ref, that shit would not go unaddressed. It inhibited the action and delayed the inevitable, and was just pathetic to watch. Guy was scared. All night. And I'm still highly dissatisfied that we were robbed of the satisfaction of watching that glass shatter!
