Johnny Tapia definitely needs a movie made about him, this guy had been 3 time world champion and also been declared dead like 5 times. Also if Holyfield manages to win another piece of the title, he needs a movie about him. Imagine showing him coming up in Atlanta, then the Olympics, then his dominant reign over the cruiserweight division. His epic trilogy with Bowe, regaining the title from Moorer, his notorious fights with Tyson. Then his decline, losing to Lewis being delcared unfit to box by New York Boxing Commission. The comeback, and finally his last title run. Good story right there.

Arturo Gatti's life would make an excellent movie. If there is ever a movie made about Oscar DLH's life it too would be great. Here is a link for info on the upcoming movie about the life of Micky Ward:

I can't believe no one's said George Foreman yet.
But on the other hand, even casual boxing fans probably know everything there is to know about George's life. A movie might just be overkill.

If i'm not mistaken, there is a film based (maybe loosely?)on his life. Quite a remarkable saga.

The Great White Hope.
I think his name is Jack Jefferson in the movie and he's played by James Earl Jones.

I would seriously love that. Hell I'd write a biography about both of those tough mofos is I could interview them,

Mickey Rourke in his younger years would've been perfect for the part.. you know.. minus the plastic surgery.

fuck yeah man - best read ever
the parts with him on drugs and being a stand over man would be hectic - then turning his life around and getting a shot at the world title? forget about it! who would be good to play briggsy though?
Andrew Golota. Would love to get inside that head, especially with the legal problems in his past as well as the fights he's lost.

I was beat to Johnny Tapia. It wouldn't be one of those "uplifting" movies. It would be a hard gritty story about the resiliancy of the human spirit and the failure of human nature.

Max Schmeling. Living in nazi Germany being an icon. World champion. Robbed of the title. Creating a sensation beating Louis. Not being a real nazi and being hated in America for the Louis rematch. Disgrace in Germany after the LKO1. Saving jews during the Crystal Night. Having a jewish manager and a slovakian wife. Defending manager in personal conversation with Hitler. Defending his wife from press attacks due to her "inferior race". Soldier during WW2. Ruined, but financial comeback as a part of the Coca Cola company. Helping Joe Louis financially. Continuing nazi-insinuations for decades from the international press. Redemption as the two jews he saved during the crystal night invites him to the US. An icon in Germany with stadiums and arena named after him. Living a long life with the same wife. Everything is there for a great movie. There has been made a tv-movie about his friendship with Joe Louis, but I haven't seen it.

Mitch was a former street gang leader and according to boxing legend, a character in the film The Warriors was based on him.
Actor Michael Jace portrayed Mitch in the 1995 HBO film Tyson.
In October of 1997, Mitch won a lawsuit against Mike Tyson in which he was awarded $45,000.
Mitch has never been knocked down during his professional career.

Max Schmeling. His bouts vs Louis, being (reluctantly) the poster boy for Nazi Germany, his activities in WWII and Jewish sympathies, his rise in the corporate world and later paying to help give his old rival a grand send-off would make a great biopic.

I think they actually made a movie about the Ed Wood of boxing, Bruce "The Mouse" Strausse.

hands down bernard hopkins, a good runner up would be a winky wright movie that shows how they tried to put him down by spreading rumors (asthma), questionable decisions and set backs(vargas, taylor) fighting in europe because he had no choice because nobody really wanted to fight the guy. they can also show how he came across dan and then his rise to stardom by beating mosley and trinidad. i think it would make a great movie

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a stand over man an enforcer who makes collections for organized crime members?
Are u saying that Briggs was once like Furio from the Sopranos?

The man who will become one of the greatest of all time come July 21st: Bernard Hopkins.
Streets of Philly - Grateford - Working with the master Bouie Fischer - First pro fight lost - KO of that kid he fought on a 5hrs short notice - Loss to Roy - battles vs. the system - 21 title defenses - 2 robberies vs Taylor (HBO = Home Boys Only) - Enter Guru Mackie Shilstone - Retire - unretire - win very round vs. Winky Wright...
Seriously, there are so many angles through which you can approach Bernard's life... Plus Bernard is a character, he has a strong personality, he's perfect for the big screen.
There will never be another Bernard Hopkins, yall will miss him!
