I bought a Salvador Sanchez collection about two years ago. It's one of my favorites. Enjoy the Nelson fight tonight.

Sanchez bro he was a beast ... he had it all ... Manny wouldn't be able to outslug him and he sure as hell couldn't outbox Sal.
Top it off Sal had an IRON chin never seen him hurt and he fought beasts like Wilfredo Gomez and Danny Red Lopez.

If Marquez can beat Pacquiao twice IMO, then Sanchez get equal that feat and more.

Manny is a class act, but i find it hard to bet against Sanchez. He is the main man.

Salvador Sanchez is quite possibly the greatest Featherweight of all time, i don't see Manny doing well against him at all. I don't see Manny beating Azumah Nelson either!

Sanchez had a tendency to fight to the level of opposition at times, but he'd be up for a Pacquiao fight.
Pacquiao would have his moments, but come up short in losing a competitive but clear decision.

Sanchez by late round TKO, just like against Little Red and Nelson. Too much of everything for PAQ to handle

Chava takes this one...he was just simply amazing. Going just on the numbers from the poll, I would say there are at least 7 people at this moment that have NEVER seen Sanchez fight. THAT, is the one and only explanation.

Sanchez wins a clear UD.
Pac is special but I don't see how he could beat Sanchez. He would give Salvador some problems with his speed and being a southpaw but Sanchez was too well rounded to lose this.

Everyone is voting for sanchez, i haven't seen him fight.. All I know is he had 23 pro fights something and was 21 something when he died. I wasn't yet born by then. Wish I could see how this guy is:|

Im going to take the contrary view here
Sanchez's early death has lead to him becoming one of the most overrated fighters in history.
No disrespect but this happens to everyone who dies before his time, it gets romanticized. After the Gomez fight, he looked very ordinary
Do any of you know how ordinary he looked in half of his defenses ?
If you didn't know, he struggled!
see his fights with Ford, Castillo, Pat Cowdell, Rocky Garcia...for proof.
His greatest victory was against a 122 lber who as great as he was offensively was very poor defensively
As for the Nelson fight..Nelson had 10 career fights and gave him trouble in the earlier rounds...Had they rematched the time Nelson turned into a beast, I believe Nelson would have beaten him
I dont know who will win, Im just putting my 10 cents

you can view some of his fights on youtube. he was a counterpuncher like marquez, although you can say he's stronger physically. and i think he will win via UD against pacman in a grueling intense battle

You're ruining the romanticism of fighters whose careers died tragically early. Don't you know, they're always the most unbeatable?
Anyway, I agree with some of the points but Gomez wasn't too shabby on defense. He wasn't too good above 122 though.
As I said before, I think Sanchez would be up for this fight and he'd step up his game. As it was for Lopez and Gomez, it's a bigger fight, rather than a fight like Nelson where it was supposed to be just another defense against a late replacement.
I think Sanchez gets past Pacquiao, but I'm not sure if he would've beaten Pedroza.

I meant Red Lopez initially not Gomez, Gomez was just small .
Pedroza surely was one of teh most underrated fighters ever...He would have troubled Sal with his power at 126
The one for me that I would have loved to see was Arguello / Sanchez at 130 ..Arguello I think could have knocked him out..as it stands now..Sanchez is somehow a more mythical figure than the great alexis.

You know Gomez was the greatest 122 ever arguably..At 126 he was nothing special... whose the other great fighter?..it cant be the green Azumah..coz nelson was a well known late bloomer. Danny Red Lopez..was a defenseless slugger..he was never a great fighter

very true about the concept but that aint the case here if you recall pac struggled with solis and larios as well as JMM 2x and em 2x em was beating him in the 2nd fight just . i think pac would definalty give him trouble. i say ss beats him 8 rounds to 4 if it's a 15 round fight its a ko in the 12 or 13 but ss would sweep the last 3 or maybe lose 1 round. it would be a great fight though.

Im not saying PAc will beat him..He just wont steamroll him like people here insinuate.. Coz frankly..I cant put Sal over Erik and MAB based on their overall bodies of work...
One troubling thing about Sal is that Gomez was his apex...He was never as dominant as his win against Gomez and Lopez...
Like Thread stealer said...
Pedroza would have given him problems coz Eusebio had legit 126 power..
Nelson had some 10 fights and he gave Sal all he could handle until he overwhelmed him later on...note that Nelson was a great talent but was a bit raw when he started ...He later became great..truly a late bloomer..he was even older than Sal from what I remember
When you put it all in perspective//Eusebio, Azumah..these guys are comparable to PACs level..I dare say that PACs ahead of these guys in any ATG lists when its all said and done. And I;ll tell you something..PACDBEST have no clout in making ATG lists

Pac > Tyson of 88 in a handicapped cage match with biting allowed. I hear pac bites bites with the force of around 700 lbs.. I saw him bite the head off of some hatched balut monster chicken zombies, back in 98' when he saved Manilla from a real life Zombie Chicken attack.

SAL by complete domination, the guy had everything for an almost flawless counter-puncher and more.

Juan Manuel Marquez reminds me of Salvador Sanchez a little bit. Counter puncher specialists, Sanchez was even a better counter puncher than Marquez, and both have underrated punching ability and techniques in their arsenal.
Sanchez had an iron chin though, Marquez tasted the canvas more than a couple of time even though he has a good chin too.
In the end, Sanchez would do better than Marquez against Pacman en route to a close but clear decision. I can't see him knocking Manny out though but the fight would be one hell of a war.
Sanchez had a tendency to fight to the level of opposition at times, but he'd be up for a Pacquiao fight.
This is 100% spot on. People often bring up his unimpressive performances against mediocre opposition to bring him down, but that's what it was, he seemed to fight to their level. When he fought a great fighter, he stood up and smoked them. Possibly the best, (not greatest), featherweight in the history of boxing. He could do absolutely everything in the ring, and he is one fighter who could definately stop Pacquiao. But I'd take him to win a very clear decision.
