I hope they just keep it professional during this press conferences. I thought the shove Hopkins gave Winky Wright was disrespectable and not neccessary for the fight. It may be for publicity, but it's boxing not wwf.

The funny thing is that argument they had -

"NAME ONE GREAT FIGHTER THAT YOU'VE FOUGHT!"

"You've fought all little guys, man, little guys."

Is repeated over and over again, all day on ESB.

Sinister.

Joe's not a trash talker, he easily brushed off what Hopkins said and replied in the correct manner.

If he hired Amsterdam, everyone would love Joe, I'd bring my mate CHJ along as well as head propaganda clerk of the promotional end and we'd have every American on the tour convinced that Calzaghe is the GOAT.

I'd probably get fired for convincing people that Mijares is God.

I agree actually, I think Calzaghe is feeling it a bit. His patter post spat was hilarious. Also, although Joe fears n o man in the ring he seems just a wee bit off when Bernard gets into his space. Obviously Calzaghe isn't going to start anything so I think he feels the upper hand goes to Bernard in a situation like that.

He seemed of his stride at that conference for whatever reason. Hopkins better have more though if he's hoping to throw Joe of on fight night.

This is a TERRIBLE idea, CHJ has already admitted to wanting to "kiss with" Calzaghe - although strangely he doens't want to "hold hands" - I think China would make Joe really uncomfortable, staring at him, trying to touch him and pat him all the time, putting his penis into his mouth when Joe was trying to sleep...

Joe doesn't have an aggressive personality, he basically dismissed Hopkins there, didn't seem off at all, he just doesn't know how to respond in the type of trash talk that these others produce, it's not how they do it Europe generally.

Just because Hopkins is louder, doesn't mean he has the upper hand when that's Hopkins' personality.

Hopkins has been the one who's been acting like a fool the entire time, see his interview where he acted like he was a prophet? Ridiculous.

He knows he's going to lose.

Amsterdam, the reporter wasn't trash talking with him. Yet Joe was lost. He is not particularly verbally literate, but it is still not nomral for him to say "at the end of the day" four times in one sentence then repeat something he has already said.

Hopkins maybe acting like a fool, but look at what happened in a similar situation a la PBF v Hatton. Hatton was all quite, putting on ear plugs etc... Then PBF commenced to tagging that ass.

Who knows if Calz will lose? Who knows if BHop will lose? All I'm saying is that Joe hasn't been in the bright American lights before, lets just hope he doesn't get stage fright.:good

The biggest names on Hopkins record our Taylor and Jones Jnr and he lost to them. His biggest wins were agaisnt Blown up Welters in De La Hoya, Trinidad and Wright, and a guy coming down from H/W in Tarver. His only win over a top guy that should have been at M/W was Glen Johnson!

Calzaghe beat Eubank, Lacy, Kessler all top fighters, Knocked out Veit in Germany and beat Brewer who legitamatley should have been World Champ after beating Ottke.

Guys like Woodhall, Reid and Mitchell were as good as the guys Hopkins faced like Eastman, Allen and others.

Yeah...Nard had Joe rattled there...:yep...but they were talking BIG NAMES not great fighters, really...:)

Calzaghe called Trinidad small. He's only saying this based on Trinidad having previously been a welterweight. But when Trinidad faced Hopkins he was around the same size, and anyone who thinks otherwise is simply pulling the wool over their own eyes.

Trinidad matured into a natural middleweight, similar to the way Hearns did in the mid 80's.

Can you imagine Hagler moving up to light-heavyweight and his record being played down by his opponent saying "Who have you fought, Hearns was a small guy".

Trinidad can't even get down to middleweight at present.

Well...small or not/matured into a natural middleweight or not, I don't think that's the real point, although growing into a natural middleweight, if it's done right, qualifies you as a natural middleweight, sure. To me, the real point is whether you are as effective given your (new) style at the higher weight as you were at the previous weight you made your mark on. Not many people can pull it off, whether they mature into the higher weight or not...Trinidad did not...

People shouldn't read too much into Calzaghe's behaviour now and right up until after the weigh-in.

Hopkins will always look like he has the upper hand before the fight because Joe is not and has never been a trash talker and yes he does sometimes look uncomfortable when it comes to all that bollocks. He's always been like that.

At the end of the day all that matters is what happens once that fiirst bell goes and then is when the Calzaghe that matters comes out.
