Ali wins on ring intelligence but in terms of I.Q he was pretty much dumb as a post, he just had a way with words tho.

Lennox would be the opposite of Ali in that respect. A very smart guy who plays chess and is good with his money, but to listen to him talk in his boring monitone voice while commentating youd think he was retarded

Lennox Lewis- 9 (when on top of his game and not underestimating)
James Toney- 8
Winky Wright- 8 -He sticks to his plan, no matter how boring...
Joe Calzaghe- 7 1/2 -See above, just a tad more risk-taking (good for him)
Miguel Cotto- 5 -At best
Oscar De La Hoya- 7 -Just because you have great ring generalship doesn't mean you make the right adjustments...
Muhammad Ali- 10 - About as great as they come as a whole package.
Jermain Taylor- 2 1/2 -Please... He lets smaller men boss him around, he still can't use a jab effectively, he doesn't realize it when his man is beat mentally, and he doesn't control anyone.

Lennox Lewis- 8
James Toney- 9 use to be a 9, he was a genius in the ring at one point. But now hes just a fat burger lol so I say a 6 now
Winky Wright - 9 Snart fighter, sticks to the gameplan, and does what he has to do to win
Joe Calzaghe - 8
Miguel Cotto - 8
Oscar De La Hoya - 7
Muhammad Ali - 8
Jermain Taylor - 5, he doesnt listen. He's the only fighter i know that shakes his head yes when his corner is instructing him. And then goes out the next round and does the total opposite lol.

Lewis - 8
Toney - 9
Wright - 9
calcaghe - 8
Cotto - 9 I dont know how he can be rated lower. some times i feel like u guys dont know what ur watching. watch how he feints his opponents into doing wht he wants them to do, how he switches the angles of his punches, how he makes his opponents go where he wants them to. Thats ring intelligence. Open ur eyes holy shit....
Ali - 8
Taylor - 3

Lennox Lewis 9
James Toney 10 But the mother fucker is at 9.5 due to his lack of training and should drop another point for consistant steriod abuse 8.5 final answer
Winky Wright 9 Solid defense good work rate does not run to get out of the way of shots he actually boxes great fighter IMO
Joe Calzaghe 7.5 fights the perfect fight when faced with a banger like lacey, but falls off when he fights lesser known fighters
Miguel Cotto 8.5 very good pressure style fighter great power ability to switch and hit with both hands MC is the future of the welter weight divison
Oscar De La Hoya 8 struggles in fights which he shouldnt dont know the problem with his stamina in the late rounds perhaps his eating habits are effecting him, also you must consider who he is in there with all top notch fighters he has faced 3 # 1 P4P fighters in his career and the last one he faced he only lost by a single point move him up to 9
Muhammad Ali 9.5 the only thing that hurt this man was the lack in intelligence he had when he continued to fight knowing he was clearly past his better days
Jermain Taylor 5 fucker does a great job in two fights against Hopkins then looks like shit over his last three against lesser fighters, I wouldnt call winky lesser but you can bet your ass Spinks is and so is Ouma

How about the 'Corner Intelligence' of the following trainers
Freddie Roach
Buddy McGirt
Enzo Calzaghe
Manny Steward
Floyd Mayweather Sr
Roger Mayweather
Dan Birmingham
Freddie - 8.5 - keeps a nice, calm corner, not so good at motivating DLH in that fight however, but definitely does see flaws in his opponents
McGirt - 5 - overrated, completely overrated. He comes up with stupid advice in the corner, he can't motivate his fighters for shit and he doesn't think on the fly. He may be a good trainer in the gym, but he's not a good trainer in the corner
Enzo - 8 - He's managed to pull his son (and now some other fighters) out of some tough matches, he gets their attention and understands the fight game well. Hard to rate him higher as he only has two real champs (Enzo Mac and Cal Jr)
Manny Steward - 10 - the guy knows his shit. All throughout the Taylor fight against Winky, he gave Taylor all the keys he needed to win with. He told Taylor exactly what to do, Taylor just didn't execute. Trained so many champions and really works to simplify but enhance their ability to win
The others? Meh, Don't care about them to be honest.
Floyd Mayweather Jr got his skills from his daddy, Roger just holds the mits - that much is clear.
Dawson is proving Floyd Mayweather Sr to be a capable trainer, not to mention his work with ODLH.
Birmingham - good with Winky, but didn't know how the hell to get Lacy out of that Calzaghe scrap, probably should've pulled the pin earlier in the fight, save Lacy the beating he got.

Miguel Cotto- 5 -At best
Explain - Cotto is very intelligent in the ring. He knows what to do when he's hurt, he dictates the fight, he wears guys down, and he switches it up. The only the against him was he was going toe to toe with Torres a few times and that is when he got hurt badly.

thank u
I think Cotto has a very high boxing I.Q. I remember between the 4 and 5 round of the Judah fight he told his corner: "esta quedao", he is done. But he dint get desperate or anything. He reads very well his opponents body language. But at the same time; he does like to trade when he feels he can overpower his opponent, and does get caught to often. Then again he does know how to box, move and grab when he is hurt.
i would probably give him an 8. It would be higher except for his tendency to trade with his opponents when there really is no need to.

ehh- I just think he gets hit a little too much, I could have probably given him a bigger break... Still not that high, maybe 7, just wait until he's in with A-list opposition. You'll see what I mean. (hopefully I'm wrong, 'cause I like him)
