Tough Argie warrior Velasquez(36-6) will square off against Danish fringe contender Mads Larsen(46-2) on the undercard of Slyvester vs Asikainen, and Timo Hoffman vs Timur Ibragimov on june the 23rd.
The Argie has proved again and again that he can make the water quite hot for most of his opponents.Very talented German supermiddle Braehmer had a bloody close fight with him some weeks ago.
Velasquez is a former champ who lost his title quite controversially against Felix Stum.I watched that fight live, and I for my part had the Argie ahead on points. He was the defending champ then, and he was the one who was chasing Sturm, and not the other side round.Anyway!
Larsen was out of the game for quite a long time, and he still seems to be a bit rusty.
Velasquez is a tough match, and he for sure doesnt fly to Germany in order to lose.Larsen has to stick to the grindstones and put his best foot forward to overcome this difficult task.
Will he be able to beat Velasquez? Will he fight for a world title within the next 18 months?

You are right,bigears! Thanks,mate!
I tend to mix those spanish names up from time to time.Well,at least Velazco's first name was written correctly.

It's gonna be a though fight for Larsen. It's good and though matchmaking by Sauerland considering Larsen's long break from the ring.

Maybe he could learn Kohl a thing or two? Velazco is better than the American clubfighter who fought Erdei this weekend.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to see how Mads does in this fight. He looked rusty in his comeback fight against the Russian which name I cannot remember.

My guess is a Larsen win, probably on points.

No problem :good , for a second when I saw the title I thought 'poor Hector what's he thinking' , but then rationale set in .

Good fight by Mads!

Velazco hit him with a big right in the first round and won that round. After that Larsen figured out Velazco and won the last 7 round without taking any chances and controlling the fight with his right hand. One thing I really liked was that Larsen got better each round which also tells me that he still was rusty after his long layoff from the ring.

Mads will get better than he was today when he get more rounds in and still managed to beat Velazco much easier than Braehmer. It's looking good IMO.

The judge who scored the fight 77-75 is a clown.

79-73 to Mads Larsen who seemed to have a good night. Not spectacular boxing, but a solid effort that shows that he is back. He will be a top10 contender in half a year.

I havent seen the full fight of Larsen vs Velasko yet,but according to the news Larsen beat the capable Argie more convincingly than Braehmer did.
Sounds very promising!

I hope that Sauerland very soon matches Larsen with one of his supermiddle stablemates(Berrio,Haussler,or Tsypko).
Larsen vs Braehmer would also be a highly interesting and fascinating bout IMO.

I hate all Larsens stupid statements.
The big arm tat says "inocente". It relates to a crime he got nailed for. The only thing that does to him is people asking: innocent in what?
New tat around the neck says "better to be hated for what you are - than loved for what you are not". This won't make Aristoteles a Larsen fan.
I get feeling the guy wants to tell us you should never change your ways. I know most people do.

I thought Velazco also won the last round for score of 78-74. Larsen's right hand was top-notch controller, left lacked explosiveness and he remains panicky whenever he is hit. However, the skills enable him to avoid being hit often.

No. 3 will be between Mundine, Bute, Inkin, Andrade and Lacy imo.

Lacy? Why Lacy? What about Vitaly Tsypko then? Or Juergen Braehmer?Or...

Well Lacy did just beat Tsypko with a damaged shoulder...

...and Brähmer just lost to Veit.

Larsen is though nowhere near the 3rd spot. But he seems to on his way back.

He didnt beat him,but got a hometown decision against Tsypko.
He may have fought with a damaged shoulder or not,but the winner of that fight should have been Tsypko.
