some of rees body shots look quite decent he just throws to many weak shots, however after six rounds i have in 4-2 to ress.

Time to start giving Rees some due respect.
Fighting two divisions above his best weight he's a tough fucker and will give a tough scrap to most boxers

I think he needs to drop in weight and he could so something at a lower weight.

Does he have the training dedication to get in to optimal shape though? Who knows. I'm honestly not sure why he's fighting at this weight in the first place. Good fighter, good, brave fight tonight but he could be better if he shed some weight and fought at his natural level.
Perhaps it would've been more merciful for Rees if the once suggested Hatton fight had been his first defence - That would've ended inside a round and he wouldn't have taken the prolonged beating he took tonight. Hope he shows no long term damage.

Buncey was over the top there. He may have had a reasonable point, but he really went overboard, like he had some kind of problem with Rees. Fat prick. (Bunce, that is!)

the judges all had kotelnik comfortably too.
would have been just.

thats what i thought
rawling and woodhouse must have been well impressed with rees's body shots even if they didn't make a dent in kotelnik. i had it 108-103 to the Ukranian going into R12
but still, rees did better than i thought and it was an entertaining fight. felt a bit sorry for him that he didn't last the distance

Very tough fight for Rees, took some hard shots in there, i don't know what was worse taking the shots or getting the ear bashing from Enzo in between rounds. Rees needs to get down to SFW.

he has some bottle, thats for sure.
problem was, only the body shots landed and they simply did fuck all.
he is not big enough for the division.:deal

Rees IS a good fighter, even though a lot of people on here thinks he's a bum.
He's fighting in a division thats too big for him. He would be a be a world contender at SFW if he can make the weight.
At least he fights unlike some world champions at the min.
I also think Steve Bunce is an Arsehole.
He said Gavin rees won the 1st 2 and that was it and then Gavin rees was totally outclassed.
The other guy was in front by about 3-4 max rounds IMO, but not 9. Arsehole !!

Well Rees proved that the Mbaye fight was no fluke tonight and i take back everything i said.
Its a shame that Rees did'nt make it to the end of the 12th.
He deserved to last the distance in this one.
What a warrior!

I'll be the first to admit that i'm pro khan, but if rees thinks he has the tools to dismantle khan in 6 rounds than this is just utter bravado on his part, having looked back at the khotelnik fight i had the ukranian ahead by 8 rounds to 2 with 2 even rounds, khan would have an early night with gavin.

Is that the first time you've noticed that? They pop up regularly & I've never understood what they are either.
Anyway, Rees showed a lot of bottle & I felt sorry for him being stopped in the last round but Kotelnik was clearly winning. Rees is too small for the division, his punches are weaker than Malignaggi's. I found it amazing to see him having a joke with Enzo before the last round. I think his somewhat dour demeanour probably belies his true self.
I found the Lockett interview quite interesting. Gary was under no illusions regarding Arum's & HBO's motives for choosing him as Pavliks next opponent.

u wouldv thought he'd train like a dedicated proffesional leading up to the mbaye fight, but as soon as he won it he turned out to be a little cocky shit,

Rees heart was top class in this fight and he proved that the Mbaye fight was legit.

He was only 10 grams over the limit though and It's possible the scales wern't calibrated properly.
Williams wasn't 228 when he fought Gammer.

how can a man who's five foot 3 struggle to make weight like gavin did yesterday
he should be able if he's training properly to make even super feather let alone light welter at his height
Yeh its a funny one, especially as his cardio is pretty good.

Rees looked flabby to me.
His heart is massive but I think he's a crap LWW and I said that all along.
M'Baye looked like he'd turned up for a sparring session last year, he just didn't look interested and Rees capitalised on that.

see the guy in the front row with the big black specs - he was arguing with me (I was in the Celtic shirt behind him) that Rees was even going into the last round! Not a chance I said - 7 rounds to 4 to Andreas - then he gives me that "i've been in the boxing business for over 40 years" - line I tell him that maybe he should have learned a little more in all that time then - and turned on my heels to collect my winnings - well I would have if I could have got on line around there -
P.S. South Wales - what a shithole - no offense meant ot any South Walesers!
A good big man will always beat a good but very small man.
