It was a great fight :bbbwell done to Katsidis and his team, not the best way to end a fight but shit happens!
It was awesome to see the support he had from the crowd and the love he has for his homeland Australia......

No need 4 Michael to aplogise, if he's fighting for mexico, philippines or the brits maybe yes coz they get behind their fighters so much .I watched Ten Melbourne news all week not one word on the fight and caught most of wide world of sports this morning and nada on the fight, no need for Rocky to aplogise at all! He can hold his head up high.

No shame in what he done today...
Showed the aussie fighting spirit.
He will be back in the big time very soon.
Kind of shitting me that some fuckwits in the general forum still have the hide to bag him out..
I know we are all keyboard warriors but i would never bag anyone that put in a performance(also in defeat) like the one kats did today.

Guys if you want me to pass on anything to Mick please just post here and i'll foward them on.
Great fight and just got alittle carried away in the 10th but he will learn from that and be back, Plus great ot see a guy at the end of a fight still a man of honour and respect.

Don't want to say I told you so, but I told you so...
Whats a club fighter doing ahead on the scorecards against a great fighter and even sending him throws the ropes with a devastating flurry??
Probably a good chance you havent ever stepped in the ring to know the difference between a club fighter and a legit contender.
Your a mug.

Nothing to be ashamed of, he showed great heart especially after that first round. He will learn from this no doubt and come back to bigger and better things.

Best fight I've seen in years. Rocky is clearly our country's best fighter, Casamayor may be old but he's a legend and knows all the tricks in the book. Other than the horror start and end he controlled the fight so they're were plenty of positives.

Didn't look like he was dominating when he was rolling out the ring to get more time to recover.

Wow. He was beating a 45 year old Casamayor. Doesn't change the fact that he got check hooked back to Melbourne where he can go train with the dingos and koala bears.

Who cares where he's from? He's a loser. When you can't finish off a 125 year old Casamayor after stunning him multiple times, that says something.

im from argentina, i never saw neither casamayor or katsidis fight but i became a fan of michael tonight he showed a lot of guts and heart .i hope seeing him again on tv, because the way he fights reminds me of the way they fight down in my country.he will be champion again,a guy who is dropped 2 times in the first round and gets up and managed to turn things to his favor needs a reward not today maybe but the chance will come. and there is nothing to be ashamed of men he fought like a true warrior.

That's really not something to be proud of.
He has something u never will, HEART and PRIDE something that many fighters dont have enough of these days.
Sounds like Katsidis did well and congrates to him.
When there where rumours about a potential matchup years ago i thought would be difficult fight for him. I saw Casa years ago as an amatuer and he was very very slick with good power and timing, there is no shame in what happened to Rocky today.
Casa may be shot to shit but he is one hell of a fighter.
Kats has good earning potential and we will see lots more from him :good

Katsidus had nothing to be ashamed of, he was winning the fight, got caught and the fight was stopped too soon, while he was throwing punches, the ref should have not done that.

Two words describe Mick "fucking warrior":deal
I was gutted after the loss he realy deserved to win with a preformance like that,it reminded me of the first fight Green had with Beyer in that a touch of inexpierience and a rush of blood cost him the fight but just like Danny iam sure Mick will come back from this:good
I just wish rocky new that he was in front because i doubt he would of been so desperate to go for the kill.
Bad luck to rocky he'll learn from this and one things for sure he just made a shitload of new fans:happy

Does this make you a big man coming on our forum and showing disrespect like you have? Ok your guy won fair and square but show some courtesy to a warrior like Mick Katsidis who gets out there and has a go...... He may have lost the fight today! but the war is not over yet buddy.

Kats was the better fighter today. He paid the price for being reckless in the 1st round. If he didnt get knocked down in that first round he would of had Casamayor down and out by the 7th.
In a way Im glad Kats got a loss out of the way...after a while i think being undefeated can become a burden too big to carry and it also means you havent been taught one of the biggest things there is to learn in boxing.
I think we will see a much better Kats from here on out.

Wayne, pass onto Kats that he should hold his head high and hasn't let anyone down at all, if anything he's made us even prouder.

Hmmmm i think this is debatable mate....a KO loss is never good. Just ask Shannon Taylor. Remember when he was undefeated and stepped up and faced Mosley, got knocked down first rd and bravely made another 5-6rds. Kats is obviously different as he fought back and was in front before the stoppage.
Getting beat on points is a good learning curve, but getting stopped is another thing especially when your main assests are a come forward aggressive style..... allah hitman hatton.
Mundine got KO'd but he was inexperienced and his style wasn't one of intimadation etc........big difference :good

Did he get carried away?
As I posted on the other thread, he was arguing with his corner about what round it was and appeared distressed IMO. The way he went out that round was without caution and seemed as though he had shut down mentally.
Exhustion? Was it hot there? The grappling wouldn't have helped as he works hard all fight.
Opinion?

I agree but I think it depends on the mental attitude of the boxer too.
The big thing for me was that Kats was infront and had hurt Casamayor a few times. He lost the fight through being reckless in a total of about 45 seconds covering 2 rounds...something which I think he will watch over and over and over and over and over again on video. I dont think he will be so quick to make that mistake again.
I could be wrong but my real impression of Katsidis is that he will take A LOT from this fight. If he fights Casamayor again he will KO him well within the distance.

We all hope this is the case mate. However his next fight will tell us exactly where he's at mentally.
Does he take a hard fight on the big stage again in the states? or does he take a tomato can back here in Oz to gain confidence?????

Kats has moved into my Number 1 spot in Aussie boxers. Watching him lose to Cas is more inspiring than Mundine beating bums and the Soliman triplets.

Well lets call it halfway and give him a tomato can over in the states.

Awesome fight, I'm gutted that Kat lost, but he's done us all proud, and I'm sure many people will be keen to see him again.
What I found quite remarkable was the contrasting faces at the end of the fight. Kat landed much more power shots, yet Cass' face looked like it did before the fight started.
I thought the stoppage was fair. Kat was gone from the KD, the ref almost stopped it then when he walked a bit groggily to the ref after getting up.
Kat's such a great guy to watch in the ring though isn't he? You've got to admire a guy who goes full pelt like that after copping 2 cut eyes fairly early on.
I'll always try and see this guy fight. He's the sort of guy who entertains people who aren't fans of the sport.

"It was one mistake," said Katsidis, his right eye swollen and bleeding after the fight staged at the Morongo Casino, in the Californian desert about two hours east of Los Angeles.
"I got excited and got caught."
Katsidis was upset he did not finish his opponent off.
"They say age is wasted on the youth and I had that fight, but I went out there and I got stupid," Katsidis said.
Casamayor, a cocky boxing gold medal winner at the 1992 Olympics for Cuba and considered one of the best lightweight boxers of the past decade, refused to concede it was Katsidis' body shot that sent him through the ropes.
"I slipped and went out of the ring," Casamayor said.
"I never got hurt."

Cassa is a tosser. Katsidis was really hurting him with those bodyshots and would of won if he kept his cool, he must be kicking himself, he shouldn't change his style but sometimes you have to think about the bigger picture, it seems he got a rush of blood to the head and just said fuck it, don't care what happens. Paid the price, real shame.
Casa has always been full of it. I read an interview from him in 01 where he gave Cuban boxing officials the biggest spray. Im surprised he is still alive today.

Damn, that result tore me right up too, such a shame. I was on my feet yelling at the tv and I don't think I sat down after about round 4, I really thought Mick was on his way.
The post fight interview made me feel a bit better. Very, very classy stuff from Mick, he was gracious and perceptive in defeat, no sour grapes or cheap shots. Just as proud of him for that as for coming back from the two knockdowns in the first round. He won't lose many fans for that fight.

Can't stand it when victors come out with that crap. Slipped through the ropes? How can he even say that with a straight face? If hes that much of a klutz he should be a stuntman. What next, got knocked out by the water bottle between rounds? Cut eye from a towel caused it was washed using the NapiSan test? Wanker.
Azumah Nelson was the same, claiming he had malaria during the first Fenech fight. Whatever esteem I held him in disappeared after that comment.
