Could go either way IMO.
The Albanian didnt look that convincing against very limited Brian Minto and journeyman David Bostice(who was stopped by Alexander Povetkin within two rounds). On the other hand Thompson isnt such an outstanding fighter either.
He will fight fighting in front of thousands of nutty Albanians who fanatically support their compatriot.Difficult to win a point decision in such a hostile environment.Thompson has to put his best foot forward to take Luan's skalp with him back to the USA.

At this point, Thompson should be the favourite over Kras. Whether or not he gets a close decision in Germany is another subject.

I'm thinking Thompson UD however. Krasniqi looked awful and unmotivated vs. Minto and Bostice.

Thompson SHOULD win...

Well, in Germany's defence, they HAVE been scoring fights fairly lately!

Minto/Kras was scored on target, which was a fairly close contested fight by rounds.

I think Thompson is too limited and has not enough punch to stop Krasniqi. Manfred Küchler and Paul Thomas are homeboy-judges ... Thompson would really have to dominate the fight to get a win on points.

So I guess Krasniqi to win.

That may decide that one right there. Pathetic that we have to decide winners on whether or not the fight gets scored fairly or not!:patsch

EDIT: Manfred Kuechler scored Krasniqi-Minto 116-111, that's the exact score that I had, so maybe it'll be okay....

I have a question...who are the main promoters in Germany and Eastern Europe? They must be winning a lot of money with the recent explosion of talent of Euro fights. Second question: Are they corrupt or questionable like King and Arum?

I've heard of Sauerland, Klaus Peter Kohl, Universum...but I don't know much about them. Could somebody please school me on this topic?

Those are the 3 big ones in Germany.

They are corrupt in the sense that they will orchestrate endless bullshit to get their money making homeland fighters "wins", but they rarely RIP OFF a fighters earnings like King and Arum do.

Most European fighters do very well even fighting bums, Krasniqi pulled 1 million euro just in putting a pathetic effort against a bum in Minto...

Sauerland and Kohl are the 2 big, established box promoters in Germany, they go back to the 80s. Universum is the name of the company which belongs to Kohl.
Sauerland was doing business in Africa in the 70's and started promoting boxing in the 80s mainly with African fighters like John Mugabi, who fought Marvin Hagler. He got big in the 90s after German unification when he signed the East German amateurs that went pro like Henry Maske, Axel Schulz. Today he has guys like Valuev, Povetkin, Arthur Abraham in his stable.
Kohl is the former president of the of the professional boxing federation of Germany and he is still pretty close to them, that's why Sauerland fighter fight under Austrian licence. Kohl founded Universum Box-Promotion in the mid 80s, he promoted/promotes Dariusz Michalczewsi, the Klitschkos in their early career, Juan Carlos Gomez, Sinan Samil Sam, Chagaev, Dimitrenko, Krasniqi, Felix Sturm, Zsolt Erdei.

Unless Krasniqi is totally washed up, he should beat Thompson, who is really only a southpaw version of Ray Austin - old and limited.

Krasniqi UD

Krasniqi UD

36, washed up and unmotivated, still fights because he makes 1 million Euro a fight. He *could* get a gift decision, but he'd really have to put more effort than he did against Shufford and Minto(two journeymen), to beat an equivalent fighter of his class, who has a height and strength advantage.

The Krasniqi vs. Brewster would have wiped this guy out, but that guy hasn't been seen in a long damn time...:yep

I've got to note that you also picked Guinn and Ibragimov over Thompson, so if Thompson gets this one, you've at least got to stop picking has beens over the guy!;)

If Thompson actually wins this one, he'll probably get a fight against a top ten guy, and just about any one of them'd beat him. :D But like I said, unless he's as washed up as you say Luan's gonna get the nod. We'll see.

Well, not starching Brian Minto is as bad as it gets my man!

Even losing four clear rounds to him because he didn't even throw punches.

Thompson doesn't just lose to any top 10, he gets starched badly. SAVE for Rahman, whom many rank in the top 10, Rahman gets starched by Thompson easily.:D

Gatti's almost totally braindead mate, I don't see him beating a pressure fighter as big as Gomez, even though Gomez is a FNF fighter at best...

Baldomir was equally as shitty, only Gomez has beaten two MW's, even if those two MW's weren't that good either. Gatti's looked like shit for years, struggling with a glorified tomato can in Daamgard, getting pulverised by Baldomir and now a year later(and a bit more punch drunk), he's fighting a big guy who has been able to take the punches of Jesse Brinkley(a hard puncher at MW) and also stop several durable WW's....

He definitley hits harder than Bumdomir does. This is even more of a gamble in my opinion and the only way I see Gatti winning is by a gift decision, the guys roasted.

I think that Krasniqi will be in much better shape than he was against Minto, so I say he'll KO Thompson.

Krasniqi by decision. Sometimes Krasniqi doesnt show up to fight, other times he looks like a million dollars.I think Krasniqi shows up and gives and his best career performance.

Krasniqi has a great amount of talent , but sometimes he just goes through the motions. He can hurt Brewster , there is no reason for some of these guys like Minto , Bostice to hang around to the distance. It is frustating that Luan wont let his hands go ,he has the skill to easily beat many of fighters on his record decisively , but Luan many times he will do just enough to win.

This seems to be a pretty even up type of bout but I'm not sure how entertaining it will be. I like Thompson's style to be too much for Krasniqi. I think he stays on the outside and boxes his way to a 7-5 or 8-4 type of decision. Does he get the nod even if he deserves it? Hard to tell but a legitimate Krasniqi win wouldn't be a shock though. Still I'd take Thompson by decision.
