Michael Sprott weighed a career high and Matt Skelton his lightest for three and a half years ahead of their big Commonwealth heavyweight title showdown at the O2 Arena today at the weigh in.

Meanwhile Amir Khan made lightweight for the first time ahead of his Commonwealth title clash with Willie Limond.

Sprott was 17 stone five and three quarter pounds - or 243.75 pounds - beating his previous highs of 242 pounds against Rene Dettweiler and Robert Sulgan.

Skelton was slightly heavier at 17 stone 10 pounds and three quarters, or 248.75 pounds.

He has weighed as much as 255 pounds, but hasn't been this low since tackling Julius Francis in February 2004.

Last time Sprott and Skelton fought, Skelton held a 17 pound advantage.

Today Skelton was noticeably slimmer than Sprott, although neither man appeared overweight.

In what was a low key weigh in, Khan weighed nine stone eight and three quarter pounds, the same as Commonwealth champion Limond.

It's the first time he has ducked under 9'9, and he will hold a slight height and reach advantage over Limond tomorrow night.

Nicky Cook, who challenges Steven Luevano for the vacant WBO featherweight title in the top of the bill, weighed eight stone 13 pounds and three quarters.

That was exactly the same as Luevano, who was stripped of his NABO WBO featherweight title last time out for failing to make the nine stone limit. There were no such problems this time.

Elsewhere, Bradley Pryce and Anthony Small both weighed 10 stone 13 pounds and three quarters ahead of their Commonwealth light-middleweight title fight.

Small prodded less well defined abdomen and claimed it was ripe for body shots.

Pryce just smiled and said he would soak them up all night,

Kevin Mitchell made the nine stone four pound super-featherweight limit ahead of his WBO/IBF Intercontinental fight with Alexander Hrluev, who was four pounds over.

He faced an anxious battle in a sweatsuit to get the excess off.

Sprott looks huge! I am suprised he came in so heavy. I favoured him slightly in the rematch, but looking at him in the weigh in I am a little dissapointed.

My heart says Sprott, but my head says otherwise.

Skelton looks lean and mean, while Sprott's looking for the tried-and-failed tactic of "out-muscle Skelton". No-one out muscles Skelton. Sprott should have worked on mobility and stamina in order to try and out-box Skelton.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the Bedford Bear becomes Matt "Sugar Ray" Skelton again. If he pulls that matador move again, I'll be impressed. There are worse things to watch than Willie Pep at 1/5th pace.
