Has anyone scored two or more larger ones than Jimmy Young did, in the span of time that he did?
I feel that he beat Ali, as do many... So that's the scalps of two of the elite heavies in the 70's.
Kind of like Buster Douglas beating Tyson and THEN taking Holyfield apart as well.
Thoughts?

Ali was 34 and weighed 230 for this fight ,he seriously neglected his training for this fight and nearly paid for it,I dont think Young won the fight ,he didnt cut loose till late in the fight and fought without self belief for most of it,by the time his confidence had grown enough for him to take the initiative the fight was over, the sight of him with his torso outside the ring trying to avoid Ali's attack may have influenced the judges ,but the decision was unanimous.

Ali did shit in the ring worse than going outside the ropes.
Not to mention I've seen Ali was 235 look good enough in sparring vs. a young Dokes.

Buster Douglas defeated prime Tyson.
Jimmy Young almost beat a past his prime 34 year old Muhammad Ali.
Not the same thing at all.:good

Sparring is not fighting 15 rds for a title,I saw Ali about 35 lbs overweight, make John Gardner the British Champ look a mug in an exhibition ,it proves nothing.

Okay, he convincingly beat Foreman, at least.
I'd say that's comparable, especially considering it received FOTY honors.

Massive win for Young, though the knockdown flattered his power somwhat ,George was exhausted ,and Young wasnt a banger, though even a little past his prime he came over and trounced Gardner flooring him enroute ,I was ringside, Young was a very smart cookie but ,a safety first technician ,not a crowd pleaser.

Ah well. Don't have to be a crowd pleaser to be a winner.
