View Full Version : Tim Sylvia out of UFC, signs with M1 global
It appears Tim Sylvia is done with the UFC and has signed with Andrenaline(former M1) they also signed Ben Rothwell as well. Who would have thought big Tim would have ever left the UFC but apperently his contract was getting bigger then they were interested in paying. Too bad Fedor recently left that wold have been a nice fight to see. And Rothwell adds depth to the company now having 2 heavyweights in the division....It will be interesting to see who he fights on the June card.

Tim Sylvia vs Alexander Emelianenko, who wins? This is the fight that I think everyone would want to see in M-1. A battle of two heavy handed, giants.
Alexander has an M-1 fight coming up in early April. I seen pictures of him training, he has a huge mullet.

I'd say Alex by KTFO.
Honestly I kind of expected to see this. He was very unpopular and he just got beat by 2 guys and he wasn't going to be anything but a gatekeeper at UFC anyways.

I think that M1 card has been pushed back to June, but that would be a great fight. M1 co- promotes so who knows who they might add to the card. Prob is too many orgs have started which means talent get's spread thin among all them.

WTF is Sylvia thinking? He needs to fight Fedor, and he is not with M1 anymore. That is really one big fight for Sylvia out there.

??
No, he just stopped training with Fedor because they had different views on training programs. Such as Fedor like to train and Alex... doesn't...

I don't even think they talk to each other any more. They don't seem on good terms.
Aleksander has been in better shape in his last two fights though.

o, for some reason i thought i read about him saying he didnt have that many more fights in him and he was more business oriented now. weird. ill see if i can dig that up i guess
I think this is good news, but only because I want to see Fedor's little (although rather tall) bro smash Sylvia in the face. This doesn't help the UFCs already depleted heavyweight roster at all, though.

Prob is too many orgs have started which means talent get's spread thin among all them.
World Victory Road has Josh Barnett, and the first event was a near sell out in Japan. They also have Fujita, Randleman, Roger Gracie( undefeated 6'4 220 lbs Gracie) , K-1 fighter Peter Graham.
Dream has Kharitonov and Cro Cop. There is no more K-1 Hereos. K-1 combined with the former owners of Pride to form Dream. They will be a force.
EliteXC has a National TV deal, and network TV deal with Showtime. They have money to spend on fighters.
Arlovski is leaving the UFC, who knows where he is going. Same with Fedor no one knows who he will sign with. Fighters don't need the UFC, they way underpay their fighters! Upstart companies can compete against the UFC to sign fighters.
but now it's hard to see the best fight the best, I'm still hoping UFC can sign Arlovski.

So Tim signs with M-1 directly after it is announced that Fedor isn't with M-1... and acts like he is seeking a fight with Fedor?

Look out world, M1 is coming. :!:

M1 does cross promotions so it is still possible and Fedor is in limbo anyhow....has been for a while now.

I am aware of that, it just wouldn't seem like Fedor and M-1 would be on great terms considering what just happened.
M1 is not actually the org that Tim and Rothwell signed for.M1 belongs to Finkel and the name of the org is Adrenaline and they are separate. There is always shit involved when Finkel is at the helms

Oh... I didn't read much into it. I've been working all day, and just got a piece of it. I would like to see Sylvia vs Fedor.

I think Finkelstein sold it, and Monte Cox is now the president or whatever the position is called.
Monte Cox is also Sylvia, and most of the other MFS guys', manager.

This isn't too surprising. As seen by their laughable salaries, UFC is still trying to behave as if they've got a monopoly on the sport and they can continue to grow while still paying their fighters the same, and lower than other new promotions. Thankfully, because people are seeing the money Zuffa's making, it's attracting competition that's willing to outbid them...which really isn't too difficult with the way they're doing business now.
That said, enough guys are still willing to work for peanuts to say they're in the UFC. We'll see how long that trend continues and how it affects the quality of the promotion over time. As long as they keep getting good PPV numbers with that model, there's really no incentive to change.
