Holy sheeeeet! :good
I know this is the boxing forum gents, but... Le just boxed and kicked Shamrock's ass. Frank said he would beat Le at his own stand-up game and man, he got wasted. Couldn't have happened to a bigger d!ck either.

Frank stated that he would stand the entire fight and beat Le at his own game. Le won the first round easily, won the second round but was rocked towards the end. Le got his senses back and stayed away enough that Frank was not able to take him down. Le destroyed him in the 3rd round breaking his arm at the end and landing 2 viscious kicks to the head. At the bell to end the 3rd, Shamrock took a few steps toward his corner, fell to one knee and then fell down on his back as the medical staff rushed to him. He stayed down for a long time.
Complete domination by Cung Le. :happy

I agree. There were a couple good exchanges too. Shamrock tagged Le good in the 2nd round and had him hurt but Cung was able to keep his distance by using his kicks. The guy is f'in talented with those legs.
And yes, Frank Shamrock is such an arrogant, cocky SOB. It was GREAT seeing him get owned.

I guess that Cung Le is the real deal. I wonder how he would fair in UFC against some of the top guys? Frank Shamrock does have a big mouth and got his ass thoroughly handed to him!:yep

1) There's a perfectly good thread on this in the MMA forum.
2) Cung didn't strictly box his way to victory, he kickboxed. :deal
3) That 3rd rd is the rd of the year. Good fight.

Im sure he'll go very far, Le knows more about Kickboxing than any other MMA fighter knows about their own specialty
it was a great fight, all standup. Shamrock was coming on late in that 3rd, but his arm was definately broken defending a kick in the last 15 seconds of the round (possibly earlier, but it was evident at the end).

I still feel Anderson Silva owns him.

Frank would own Lee in a rematch, all he needed to do was to take him to the ground, but he stayed true to his word.

Cung Le is the goods. Now people can start giving him the recognition he deserves as a great fighter. He just handled one of the most well rounded and seasoned MMA fighters in the game - in his sixth MMA fight.

Frank would own Lee in a rematch, all he needed to do was to take him to the ground, but he stayed true to his word. I still can't understand why he would "agree" to a striking match with a guy who had so many mismatch san-shoe fights in K-1.
I mean, with Maurice Smith in his corner, Shamrock should've known better than to stay in front of Le with his hands low, looking for one right hand. No jabs, no real leg kicks, minimal body punches, not even attempting to really take him down.
But at this point Le is going to be a large fish in a small pond, as he'll probably take a couple mismatches for Elite XC before a possible rematch.
Frank had him stunned in the 3rd should have taken him down at that point, Le was in trouble for a period there but recovered well.

Even with the momentary vulnerability, I think a takedown just wasn't in the cards for Frank.

This is getting a little carried away. We still haven't seen if he can hang with anyone on the ground. Shamrock COULD have been the guy to tell us (and probably should have been) but he decided not to. Shamrock stood for three rounds doing kickboxing with a top of the food chain kickboxer when that's not his specialty. He deserves some props and in a rematch could win if he changes to a more logical game plan.

I fucking hate when fighters take the "I'll beat him at his own game approach". It's basically a built in excuse just in case. Ortiz did the same when he tried to outwrestle Couture and tried to outstrike Liddell...
