If such a fight takes place I would like for my country man - Virchis to have a shot but if McCall gets it I would not be disappointed either.

McCall cause he's already been deemed a mandatory, whereas Virchis has not been.

I want Peter too fight Virchis, I think it would be a real bombs away war:bbb that could either way.:thumbsup While I see Peter vs McCall being a war too I think be a one sided war with Peter coming out on top, McCall is just a little too long in the tooth to be able beat the younger man.:deal

I don't know how good Virchis is or how deserving of the title shot he is for that matter. However, I do know that McCall will come to fight and is a live dog any way u cut it.

Why would Vitali not step in?

"Interim" titles are a load of crap - exactly what is wrong with this sport. Just what boxing needs, another bogus "champion" :patsch - and I'm a Peter fan.
In order to a be a legitimate beltholder, Peter HAS to fight one of the current beltholders. Sorry, but picking some contender's name out of a hat and calling it a "title" doesn't count! :-(

I don't want to see Peter against the ancient McCall, who was considered a fringe contender like 15 years ago. Virchis is a ranked contender in his prime and should get this fight if it must happen.

I agree with you Asterion :good
Oliver McCall? or Valdimir Virchis?
McCall looked like crap against Juan Gomez who easily outboxed him throughout most of the rounds. He later ran out gas so that McCall was able to win the last 2 rounds of their encounter. However,McCall looked like a shot fighter.
I for my part prefer watching Virchis vs Peter to Peter vs McCall.
Sam and Virchis, two known banger going for each other.Sounds great to my poor ears.
I very much hope that this fight really comes off.
Sam Peter is tailor made for Virchis.I bet my house that Peter wont go the full distance with the giant Ukranian.
I wouldn't mind McCall getting a title shot but I would prefer Virchis. I actually think Virchis is more deserving of a titleshot than Peter. Beating a fat old middleweight, who was never more than a joke at HW + getting a gift against the very same guy just doesn't cut it for me.

No BULLSHIT interim crap . . . Oleg must fight him.
Period!

A gift? How come? Do you really think that Samil Sam deserved the victory against McCall?

:huh I said Peter got a gift against McToney in the first fight, I wasn't talking about McCall.

Now can we get O Maskaev vs W Klitschko ? and Piter vs Virchis and the winners fight for the belts
Peter vs McCall, solid punch vs solid chin. Plus, of course I wouldn't mind seeing McCall bring the heavyweight title back to Chicago, even if only for a little while. I'd love an Oliver vs Vitali bout here.

Id prefer to see him fight for the actual title but if that doesnt happen thats a tough question.
I like peter but I think McCall's style will present problems for him. Peter won't be able to use his power to his advantage with mccalls solid chin.
Virchis I havent seen enough of to make a decision so I would probably say Virchis.

Would rather see Peter vs Vitali Klitschko for the interm title. That woudl clear up the mess that the WBC has itself wrapped in. The winner fights Maskaev, or takes his title if Maskaev won't fight.

I would but I beleive the contract with McCline is already signed.

Who should pay for buying him out though?

K-2 promotions. Vitali himself, and it doesn't really matter. McCline isn't making that much money, I'm sure. Not the kind of money that shoulds step in the way of a Vitali vs Peter showdown that would make a bunch more. K-2 promotions could even just set him up a fight on the undercard to take care of it. Things can be done.
Although, it is probably too late now because it just doesn't seem like they are headed in that direction.

Even though, I am not sure how much McCline is getting paid, whatever you said is not a bad idea at all.:good

The only beltholders that hold legitimate championships in my mind are Oleg, Wlad, Sultan, and Ruslan. If Peter fights any legit contender for the interim championship his belt means nothing in my eyes.
Peter can only become a legit champion by beating one of the current three beltholders. If Oleg retires, then I say he can only become a legit champ by beating one of the three remaining beltholders. I am not interested in an #1 and #2 WBC ranked fighter matchup winner getting any sort of legitimacy in the mix for the true heavyweight championship. If one of the current champs retires or doesnt find, challengers are going to have to look elsewhere for legitimacy. Claiming a vacant title or an interim title without fighting one of the BIG 4 means nothing.

McCall earned the title shot but owes SSS the rematch. Perhaps he could pay off.
