Anyone here familiar with Maxalding? It's basically 'muscle control'. I stumbled across it on the Internet about a year ago, and when I didn't have acess to weights/gym for a few months started doing some of the excercises.

Looking back they were bloody good and my overall fitness improved. For example I hadn't been running for months before hand but was able to do 13 miles in under 2hrs after a few weeks or so, and that was more or less doing the courses in here. For some reason I stopped, but I just did this one just now and if your a vain bastard it will get you ripped :D

i would have to agree with virus tho it is a load of bullshit

i do think you understand it is pretty bullcrap as well so please dont take personal issues over the threads

Who said it has to be on T-Nation to be true? Standing on the spot contracting and relaxing muscles will not make you "ripped" and definately won't help you run 13 miles.

Maybe you can explain what this does to the body and why you think it's so effective?

It's quite similar to isometrics.

Regarding the 13 miles. Well before that I'd never run half that distance, and certainly had done very little cardio apart from 5 a side and occasionally using my flatmates kettlebells in the months before hand.

I followed two courses laid out in that website which for the most part involved 'standing on the spot contracting and relaxing muscles'. Although there's more difficult excercises in there. But reading up on it it seems that's the whole point of it, conserving energy. My experience was you can make it as hard or easy if you like.

Anyway I ought to add I threw in a bit of fasting in the month or so I was doing this so that could of part of the reason I was able to suddenly do 13 miles in a reasonalbe time . Again this was all out of economic neccessity, I'd had to sell my weights and was seeking alternatives, hence how I found this.

One Sunday morning for some bizzarre reason I decided to run from Bristol to Bath. I certainly feel the Maxalding courses played a large roll in me being able to do that.

flexing your muscles like body builders without any cardio-respitory excercises can help you run 13miles in 2 hours..... and only in a few weeks.....

you should train specificly for your needs and flexing your body like that will help you be a better bodybuilder but not fighter or anything near

Well I would say try doing some of the courses on there and read some of the theory behind it. If you got time. It seems the people behind these excercises developed them far more for the benefit to weightlifting rather than bodybuilding. If for boxing purposes then yes it's probably alot less useful, although they say British boxers at the time were using some of the excercises. I think i've seen pics of Freddie Welsh the Lightweight from the 20's doing some.

I obviously found it useful at the time for overall fitness, maybe others will to.
