... Karo gets himself close to a title shot and again lets it slip by. I definitley thought Karo was dominating the fight up to the stoppage, he was dominatin the stand up. The stoppage was questionable, I think if the ref had not jumped in Karo would have survived, his a veteran fighter, he should been allowed a little more time. Non the less good win for Alves.

What you guys think?

I agree, but you have to give the ref the benefit of the doubt. Guys are potentially seconds away from having career ending injuries.. I thought Karo was still defending himself enough to let the fight go on, at leat a few moments to see if he could really get into a defensive position..

Karma's a bitch though.. I'm a huge fan of Karo, but his ego is something that makes me take a step back at times. I can understand why some people got a little joy from his loss.. I'm bummed, but he really is a lot like Hughes attitude wise.

Karo, blew the fight. Sure he was dominating.

Karo looks as though he could fight at 155, he is pudgy at 170. Does anyone else agree?

Karo's opponent should fight at 185, you could see he was very heavily muscled and had to cut alot of weight to make 170. Karo gave away way too much size! And one big shot from a much bigger opponent cost him a fight he was winning.

I didn’t see him dominating at all since neither guy was doing much. Sure he won the first round, but he wasn’t dominating. He went down like a sack of potatoes from that knee and probably would have taken a bunch of shots if it had continued. He should have tried to make 155 a long time ago because he can’t finish anyone at 170. I’m always been a big fan of his because judo looks so fucking cool but with his ego and his claims about all the fights he lost being BS I soured on him bigtime. If he doesn’t want to lose that fight he shouldn’t get caught reaching like that with a guy that can throw those knees. He lost it, no one else.

I've never liked Karo since he showed up at TUF and was acting like a complete idiot, Not that Diaz didn't provoke him but it seemed like he was just looking for air time.I don't see him ever getting a title shot at 170 he can never win his big fights and as said above he rarely finishes anybody.

True that when the pressure is on for him and he has a chance to move up he loses. He lost to GSP which set him back while GSP went on to get a title shot in the 1st Hughes fight. He beats Serra,Lytle to put himself in postion for a title shot vs Hughes gets injured which sucked then he came back beat the dog crap out of Thompson and agian if he beats Sanchez hes next in life after GSP/Penn but he loses that with his shitty gas tank. Then agian home boy beats Fickett,Chonan,Burkmen and Alves wouldve agian put him in that top spot whats he do he gets KTFO and complains.

It looks much worse in super, super, super slow motion. Rogan said it may of been a little quick. Karo wasn't "out", he got up and was really pissed off.

I thinks it's highly unlikely Parisyan would have survived that onslaught if the ref hadn't stepped in. He looked like a very hurt fighter who was on the brink of being hurt even more. Granted, no one can say with absolute certainty that he wouldn't have weathered the storm, but I highly doubt it.

So did Houston Alexander. But he was out too. I think when they fall like a lump of coal, it is better for the ref to call it. MMA has a good safety record and I personally would rather see a fight stopped too early as opposed to too late. That is just me though.

He was out on his feet, but wasn't given the benefit of the doubt, as other guys were getting to show he could recover and defend himself.. He brought his hands up to his head, and immediately after the stoppage he reacted.. He quite obviously not out.. But yeah, refs descretion is something you have to respect.. If he didn't want the fight stopped, he shouldn't have eaten that knee.

I was a bit surprised by Thiago's lackluster performance. He has fought with much more intensity before. He looked flat and hesitant from the beginning. He did catch and finish Parisyan with a knee, but I expected a better showing from him. I personally cannot stand Parisyan's attitude. He has a very arrogant and annoying attitude, which reminds me a bit of another guy, but he's from boxing - Vic Darchinyan.

Agree completely. Karo's shown the ability to recover from crazy shots though if you watch his fight with Serra he gets dropped the same way and recovers and goes on to win the fight.

Of course I had all my vcash on Karo so I was pissed at the stoppage haha. Can't blame the ref though for acting on behalf of the fighters safety and stepping in.

Karo seemed to be dominating the exchanges and positioning in the fight until he was caught by that knee. At that point, he was no longer intelligently defending himself. The ref was right to stop it. Some refs might have let it go on for another few seconds, and Karo mght have recovered - but that's not how it played out. The referee made the right call. The last thing MMA needs is a Duk Koo Kim incident.
