Follwoing on from my post yesterday I can confirm;

Gomez v Peter McDonough for Irish title on 23rd May 2008 at Wigan

Mike Gomez has the following to say about it "Since that night in Ireland I have not slept proper and this is the chance to cleanse myself and then move on – Steve Wood has delivered big time for me here and believe me when I say that I will smash this guy who has made a name out of me turning my back . Yes I did turn my back , but I am no quitter and this fight will turn the corner and take me back to where I should be – a champion"

Are you still in the gym Jeff? Good to see Gomez got a few rounds under his belt last week. I think this is a good fight for him and a chance to put things to bed. I'm not at the mo still in boxing pergatory at the moment. I still talk to Bobby and the lads quite reguarly though.

I expect Gomez to get revenge in this , even though he's probably quite a bit more past it than he was for their first fight .

I didnt expect to see Gomez fighting for the Irish title again as I'd thought he'd never get another fight in Ireland but of course I forgot the fight doesn't have to be in Ireland .
