lol...

Shannon Briggs Uncut Part Two: “I’ll fight Golota, Klitschko, Peter or anybody, hell I’ll knock Valuev the f*ck out!”

There are never any dull moments when you are interviewing former WBO heavyweight title holder Shannon Briggs 48-5-1 (42). Regardless of what you think about the man as a fighter, as a person, he is one of the most colorful characters you will ever come across.

In part one of the uncut and very candid interview Shannon Briggs conducted with Doghouse Boxing, the former champ spoke out on his loss to Ibragimov, and dipped into what is which includes a future movie about his life and career.

If you enjoyed part one you must read on. As usual Briggs does not disappoint when it comes to the verbal assaults on anybody and everybody. Briggs talks about his comeback, his movie and most certainly the players in the heavyweight division, enjoy.

BH: How does it feel to of overcame all that you have to be where you are today?

SB: When I beat Sergei it felt great, but at the same time I knew that I could do better with my performance. Like I said Benny, I had him out in the first round. I dreamed that I lost my mother, that night she passed away. Listen to me Benny, I dreamed that I will knock out Klitschko, they are not going to stop me! I will tell you what a great feeling was, every fighter said I was going to lose, every boxing writer said I was going to lose. The great part was making them eat their words.

BH: (Laughing) My bad, brother, I was one of them saying that as well.

SB: Apology accepted, but that is OK, it is nothing personal. I want to be the spoiler. I will be heavyweight champion again! It is politics, print this sh*t! I want them to read this, I want them to know that they are trying to stop Shannon Briggs and they are not going to stop me.

BH: You are coming back.

SB: I really never left to be honest with you. They are trying to force me to retire Benny, the powers that be and I am still going to fight for my fans. People are saying Wladimir is the best, how is he the best? He has been ducking me for years.

BH: You want a tune up fight?

SB: Give me a title shot, I want to fight Samuel Peter, and he is another coward ducking me! I went out and got the belt, they sabotaged me. If I am lucky I will get another shot, hopefully fight Samuel Peter, if he doesn’t fight the Venus champion or whatever the f*ck he is, Vitali Quitschko, he always says he assh*le hurts or his nuts hurt! Be he can still come back and get a title shot? If they let me come back and get a title shot, I will fight anybody. If I have to take the road less traveled and fight every f*cking Tom, Dick and Harry then I will, but how is it that I stopped Liakhovich and he turns around and fights Valuev for the number one spot, the last time he looked up his ass was out on a table.

BH: Politics.

SB: Come on Benny, talk to me, ease my nerves, how in the f*ck does he get stretched out on the table then fights Valuev. I’ll fight Valuev, I’ll knock Valuev the f*ck out! You keep this recorded homey and keep this the rest of your life. (Laughing)

BH: I am going to ask two more questions. What do you want to tell the fight world?

SB: I want to take the politics away, I want the fans to do their homework. I had to fight my way back, and nobody wants to fight Shannon Briggs. These people do not want to risk that I may come in shape, I can knock out any man on any given night. I took a major loss, but all I am asking for is to get a shot at one of these champions, I am asking the people to help me get my title back. I am willing to campaign and get my title back, I am the best heavyweight in the world.

BH: Closing thoughts.

SB: I am looking forward to filming this movie about my life, and to come back. I am looking forward to getting back in the ring. I am the spoiler. Let me say this, they are recyling Golota again, why? Because of Polish television, the money, that guy cannot fight, Golota will not come near me! His last fight against Mike Mollo, you got to be kidding me. Give me my chance, I’ll fight anybody!

Please.....

This guy is so full of himself.

Golota would embarass him. Valuev would too. Klitschko would knock him out. Peter probably would too.

LOL. I can't help it, I've always been amused by Briggs. I'll watch him fight, if he does again. So fuckin funny too.

Ya'll remember after beating Sergei in the 12th how he told Showtime's Jim Gray he was about to Knock him Out in the dressing room before the fight? LOL. He said Gray had motivated him with his questions and gave Gray credit for the win, and told him he could keep the belt for one week for his efforts! LOL.

Love some Briggs!!

Yikes that would be worse than Corley v Witter

He has a DISEASE.

Jesus what a fucking idiot, the guy has looked like shit in all his most recent fights, including the one with Sergei, and got shut out by Ibragimov, and I believe he threw about 2 punches a round. He is so overmuscled he can barely fucking move and is as heavy on his feet as a fucking Hippo.

Let him fight Klitschko, I want to see him get jabbed over and over and over and over again before he hits the canvas from a combination of lack of oxygen and all the blood he will be swallowing

lol ! yeah then claim the Asthma also affects head movement ! :patsch

Briggs made it "big" because the heavyweights today are so pathetic
Shannons only interesting moment of his whole career was rocking Lennox Lewis momentarily, but soon got KTFO anyway. Before that he knocked over tomato cans and even had one of them, a security guard knock HIM out. For a has-been that never was to come back after a layoff with a huge weight gain and actually win a belt just goes to show how lame Sergei Liakovich, all of the pudgy Russians and the entire heavyweight division as a whole , really are.

They have a call in radio show on the site that is confidential about its boxing, and Briggs calls in, twice. He goes on to slam both K brothers, and Peter, as well......

He may have enough of a name to get one more big fight, but you never know. He does seem to have really lost alot of clout with the Liak fight, (where he was out of gas, VERY early and being outboxed til landing in the 12th) and the Ibragimov loss.

But I think at this point, Golota/Briggs would be a very logical fight for each man. Golota needs to step up before a titleshot, and Briggs needs to step down a bit after the Ibrag loss. Great matchup. I hope King is reading this, and puts Golota Briggs together.

Briggs is a pretty cool guy, I messaged him a couple times on myspace, he always writes back with funny comments, about a year ago when there was talks of him fighting Wlad, I asked him how you see this fight going, he told me " Wlad will be on his back and counted out, I will be holding the belt, while he's crying and holding his bitch brother in his arms", the guy has a personality that's for sure.

Briggs has top notch power, about 60% of his wins come from a first round knockout, the guy can knock you out with one punch, just ask Liakhovich, who went life and death with a powerful Brewster and won, but was layed out by a couple good shots from Briggs. I dont know if any of you caught this or not, but during a press confrence before the Liakhovich fight, Briggs went to go after him, and called him a bitch ass faggot, very funny stuff.

Here is the problem with Shannon, though he talks a good game he rarely backs it up. Again all he can point to is the knockout he pulled out of his ass against Liakhovich, in a fight in which he was losing.

Shannon sounds like a man that wants a payday. He calls out everyone in there brother but will end up fighting Chris Koval, Ron Bellamey, or the latest heavyweight stiff, while he waits to cash in on a title fight.

If Shannon wanted to impress me he would take a non-title fight against a legitimate opponent like a Golota, Rahman, or even Barrett. But he won't because he has had a few chances to fight all of those guys and hasn't.

Briggs is to boxing what Sid Vicious is to wrestling: I love his interviews and I hate his fights. It's not so much that he's arrogant or delusional, just a brilliant self-promoter. He knows that being over the top is the only way for an overmuscled statue from ancient Rome to make it in the sport today.

Briggs should get a shot at Golota before the otherwise inevitable Golota title shot. We all know that Golota would be mown down like Shannon fodder.

Yes, Briggs does seem to love to talk about what he is going to do to all of the big names, but can't seem to really do it when he gets the chance. So after all this time, his grand claims seem to have lost their credibility, and most of their entertainment value.

Briggs does make himself accesible, though, as Punisher said. I know he even posts on this forum from time to time, as well.

I love power, though, and I think he probably deserves a shot at a decent name, certainly. But I do think he needs a tuneup, first, to show he has got at least an inkling of stamina, as he seems to have next to none in his last few fights.

I'd like to see Briggs fight a Golota/Whitaker/McCline level opponent, first. If he's successful, then see what else is out there are the upper levels. But as it is, he certainly don't deserve a shot at Wlad or Peter, right off the bat. That's crazy.

That would make sense, yes. We can then see if the Briggs claim that he was sick and that the promoters forced him to fight, anyway, was true.

Briggs posts on this forum every once in a great while. Maybe he'll chime in, if we keep this thread at the top long enough.

How about Sultan Ibragimov? There first fight was boring, why would we want to see that again?

Briggs needs to fight a guy that's willing to try and go toe to toe with him, Tua or Golota would be interesting choices. If we really want to see him gauge his power, maybe Mccall would make for an interesting matchup.

I don't really like seeing Golota in there against anybody at this stage. A win over Golota doesn't really impress me. I want to see Briggs in there against a guy who is actually successful. I would watch a fight against Tua, but it doesn't really get me excited, as who knows where Tua is at with his abilities at this stage either. I want to see the guys start proving themselves. Everyone wants an immediate shot at a title without earning it against someone who is actually successful at the moment. Fighting guys who haven't been successful in the last 5 years really doesn't prove much to me.

I see one of two things happening.... either Briggs blows Golota out early, which seems to be what happens when Golota fights a big puncher who is aggressive early. And the fans will act like he just conquered the world and deserves a title shot... which he will get over a more deserving contender.... and just hold up the unification that we are all looking for.

or...

Briggs will come out throwing 10 punches a round, and Golota will outbox him down the stretch... and Don King will act like he deserves his 20th title shot, and he will once again leap frog over people who actually deserve a shot at the title.

Of course I would watch it, I just wouldn't enjoy the aftermath of it.

Of course I would watch it, I just wouldn't enjoy the aftermath of it. Your concern seems realistic, Don King can pull strings and make anything happen if he wants, who else can get a journyman like Austin a shot at the title against Wlad or even Brewster, who was out of the Heavyweight picture all together and had'nt fought for 16 months, a WBO title shot against Wlad in April of 04.

I see it the exact same way as you, Briggs can bang, I never seen a fighter with so many first round knockouts, I think I did the math awhile back, and 60% of his wins come by first round knockout, I understand most of them came against C and D class guys, but he severely rocked a prime Lewis with one punch in the first round, and his match against Liakhovich proved how truly powerful he is, he did what Brewster couldnt do, with 1/10 of the effort. The guy is still very dangerous early on for any Heavyweight, but just like Mccline, the deeper the fight goes, the worse he gets.

I would like to see Briggs get down to the lean, and ripped, but still somewhat slim-ish, muscular physique he used to have back when he fought Foreman.

I think he probably likes how he looks when he's pumped up as he is now, but it certainly is too much of a good thing, when it comes to boxing.

If he does fight again, I am interested in seeing how big he is for the fight.

On Briggs' Myspace page/blog, he answers a few questions about himself. I remember one of the questions that were asked, why do you have to be that big, doesn't hurt your speed and stamina? He said, his asthma is his biggest problem in the ring, but he likes to stay big and muscular because it helps him get more acting roles, I think he was in the Transporter 2 and a couple other movies I dont think I ever heard of before.

Briggs, having just been beaten, and looking awful in both of his last two fights, is obviously not a marketable fight for any of the upper tier heavies, much less, the titleholders...

Briggs ought to show that he has finally built up some stamina (regardles of the reason why he has none-asthema or too bulky), and that he won't run out of gas so soon. He was out of gas against Liakhovich by the very early rounds, and merely stood, flat footed, and Liakhovich moved around him.

I think Briggs ought to take Golota up on the offer to fight, cause apparently, Golota is wanting a piece of Briggs. Killer matchup.

Briggs is a way better talker than fighter. If he fought as hard in ring as he talked outside it, he would have been champ. It's his comments and ability to give good interviews that boost his career, not his performances.
