any of you guys had to stop training for injury?

i have a knee injury and the doctors have instructed me to take 4-6 weeks off, i dont know if i can handle that, i get real paranoid when i miss a day of training, plus i was just preparing for a fight!

i'll try to do some swimming and i'll figure out other exercises i could do which dont affect my knee, any tips?

Yeah I broke the big toe on my right foot and the 2 toes next to it which may not sound like much but it was pretty fucking hard to even do basic bag work cause id have to put pressure on my foot.

Who recommended that? Did you get a full work up by a physio/sports doctor? I'd want that if I was going to be out for 6 weeks.

Do you have a specific rehab programme?

If it were me I'd take it easy til Monday, when I'd have a more definite idea of what needs to be done

Any idea on the cause - tendons/ligaments/cartilage/muscle etc?

Depends on the severity of the knee injury. Obviously if you keep training you do NOT want to run or jump rope. In the morning and evening make sure you are icing with compression. I purchased a re-useable ice bag at the healthcare store. Fill it all the way up and use it fifteen minutes and fifteen off. I use a long sleeve tshirt to loop around the knee and tie it off. This gives really good compression to knee area.

Then again it all depends on the severity of the injury. 4-6 weeks off from boxing is devestating in terms of performance.

I sort of dislocated-seriously sprained my wrist once, and couldn't work out for about 7-8 months. Then I started weights to strengthen it, now I'm ok but sometimes it still hurts.
I can't do straight barbell curls, example.

i have damaged my mcl by running, my doctor is an idiot, he was trying to tell me that it is soreness from not training for a long time and suddenly getting into it, i explained i have been training for a while now, then he tells me it must be stress, he just gave me painkillers and asked me to get an x ray done, i have been taking glucosamine-chrodoitin for a week now and already i could feel a big difference

Oh, for a moment I thought you had a new injury. Good to hear you're taking the glucosamine / chondoitrin now.

I think I had the same thing after I did the half marathon. That glucosamine and chondoitin stuff work then?

i never go to a doctor. that the reason why. they say shit like stay off wfor 6 weeeks wen u only need like 2-3this is 100% true. but they do it because they know most guys won't listen and they will go back in half the time if not less.

A sports doctor will understand that your goal is to get back in the gym asap, a normal doctor will play it safe.

sport doctors are expensive, they cost roughly around £60 per session, i might be seeing one this monday though, hopefully he can tell me whats up.

the pain in the side is basically gone its just i feel weakness on my knee, i think i got water in my knee, my left leg looks alittle swollen and i got a lumpy kind of thing on top of my knee cap, it doesn't hurt though when i push in.
