Which great fighters had real problems with southpaws?

Probably some of Roy's worst performances, even when he was prime, were against southpaws.

But they were against quick and awkward southpaws, that theoretically could have been just as quick and awkward if they were orthodox. Not sure the southpaw thing had as much to do with it.
But they werent his best fights nevertheless.

It's likely because of things where he couldn't just wing a left hook flat into their face and whatnot because instead he'd have to deal with their right shoulder. Stuff like that would make it more difficult to just make the fluid movements he normally would.

Edit: Regarding Roy, of course.

Hatton seems to have a bit of an issue fighting southpaws.

Hatton is shit against any southpaw.

Look at the guys who have given him the most trouble in his career other than Mayweather:

Collazo
Maussa (because of awkwardness rather than ability - switch hitting)
Eamonn Magee
Thaxton

Those are the four guys I can think of who have given him a tough time, and three of them are southpaws. The one southpaw he has beaten with little trouble was Urango, but he wasn't impressive at all.

I think RJJ because of his style. He loved to leap in and throw rights and he couldn't do that as much against southpaws. So that sort of limited RJJ's offense. He had tough times with Harding and Tarver.

Jeff Lacy.

Jeff Lacy.

:ko

To be fair, Lacy would have been hammered whether Joe was orthodox or southpaw.

Totally different league.

Adamek didn't look so good against Chad Dawson, but maybe Adamek wasn't 100% fit that night, rumor has it. If he was, Chad woulda been on his ass for good & way before that 10th flash KD occured.

Jeff Lacy.

Yep. Big time. Syd Vanderpool was toying with him for most of the early rounds in their fight. Even hurt Lacy with a body shot.

Would Oscar be another one who has trouble with southpaws i.e Whitaker and when Sturm switched.

I'm not sure about Roy Jones. Yeah Antonio Tarver beat him 2 out of 3 and Eric Harding gave him trouble, but Roy dominated a lot of southpaws as well, some of whom were champs or top rated contenders.

Jabbing against southpaws is hard, but Roy wasn't much of a jabber anyway. He liked the right hand leads and left hooks.

Floyd has seemed more hittable against left-handed fighters than orthodox fighters.
