Hopkins would be a big step backwards for Joe after Kessler. Even assuming that he would be forced to make a step backwards after Kessler, given the available appropriate opposition, it shouldn't be as big as this. Disappointing to read that Joe is already thinking of regressing to his old bad habits.

If Hopkins beats Winky it is a good fight to make, it's a shame though as SMW will have Pavlik, Taylor and possibly Winky there for him to fight but oh well.....

It doesn't matter. It would be hilarious drawing out all these Americans to pick a 44 years old over Calzaghe. It doesn't matter though as Kessler is just too good to beat and Hopkins would duck Joe anyway. If it does happen though, look forward to the biggest exposé of the American boxing media brainwashing ever known.

Always said he wanted to be a 2 weight world champion, and i have thought a 175 move shouldve maybe been the right idea a couple of years ago...but now he has Kessler so its swings and roundabouts really.

Problem is Hopkins wont fight him at this stage in his career, Woods doesnt seem interested and Dawson isnt really a huge name as of yet...i cant help but think that if and when he beats Mikkel Kessler that he may aswel stick around for the Taylor-Pavlik winner, especially if Pavlik wins...:think

Hopkins - Calzaghe is the number one fight I want to see right now. I could create a whole website dedicated to American ignorance, using the quotes of American fans before the fight.

With Taylor coming to 168 I am not sure if he'll keep his word.

He needs to go to 170 and face the Hopkins-Wright winner for the IBO title. That would be his retirement fight. Stylistically Winky Wright probably makes for the better fight.

LHW offers him a great win and a new title. This would really elevate his P4P status. However if Taylor beats Pavlik he'll be hot and he hasn't lost to X or Wright.

Basically he has options which is a great thing. Kessler is all that should be on his mind though.

Can't wait to hear the Americans claiming Calzaghe's ducking Pavlik/Taylor when either/both move up at the same time that JC moves to 175!

Calzaghe should move to 175 after Kessler. He's nothing left to offer the division. A win over Winky/BHOP/Dawson or even Woods would be far better than beating another contender.

I even feel that if Calzaghe and Kessler were to have a rematch, it gould be at 175.

Calzaghe should fight the best fighter at 168 and 175, whoever it is, after Kessler. He shouldn't worry about The Name of that fighter, his reputation or accomplishments.

He is fighting the best next, history won't care how good his next opponent (after Mikkel) really is if they aren't a big name.

But who is the best fighter out there after Kessler? The rest of 168 is simply a bunch of contenders. Bute/Mundine/Froch/Berrio have nothing to offer JC at this stage of his career.

Whereas if he moved to 175 he could face the winner of BHOP/Winky, Dawson or Woods. Dawson would be the hardest of any of those.

I think I agree. Dawson is the man for Calzaghe after Kessler. Because he is probably the best.

I think I agree. Dawson is the man for Calzaghe after Kessler. Because he is probably the best.A victory over Dawson is worth nothing though, basically because he lost to Calzaghe or he was too green. The perfect scenario for Calzaghe legacy wise is Winky hammering Hopkins then Calzaghe hammering Winky.

Calzaghe plans to go to LHW since ... hmm ... 20 years?

Pavlik, Taylor, Hopkins, Wright ... they will come to SMW. It would be dump to switch to LHW and miss those paydays.
