He was impressive yesterday and nowhere else to go but to world-level.

Sorry this is not a European group but I am not posting on this subject in the Brit forum, it just gets high jacked by Khan lovers and haters.
Anyway, I think Romanov looked pretty decent last night against a very dangerous opponent. The fight played out how most thought it would and although the cut was disapointing Romanov was cleaerly in front and not taking much damage. Thaxton is a guy who can punch hard and pull out a winner but Romanov looked class enough for that not to happen. Romanov demonstrated his ability really well.
I hope Romanov takes on a couple more people around Thaxtons pedigree before going all out for a title shot. A couple more fights without a long lay off would do him good and then we may see a real potential star. Romanov has all the ingredients to be a belt holder at Lightweight and should be looking for at least an eliminator by the end of the year.
With Casa and Nate being 36 and Juan and Katsidis being beatable the division is wide open for Romanov to make a real impact.

Romanov's a good fighter, but whether he can take the step up to win at world level remains to be seen. Many fighters win at Euro level as we know, but fail higher up. Maybe he'll get a match against Khan for the WBO title if both keep winning.

The lightweight division is wide open for Romanov. The one style no-no for him was Juan Diaz... But Diaz has been humbled now, by Campbell...
Romanov has developed a nice, efficient style and I hope he'll be able to solve/break down opponents on the world stage. He is much more ready than Khan and Anthony Peterson. And I think he'll do better than Katsidis, because Yuri isn't reckless or wide open.
I disagree about Romanov needing to fight more Thaxton class opponents. Romanov has beaten this level of opposition before, and he's also beaten better (Melero, Vanzie, Murray, Zoff).

Sorrowly,Romanov is better known in England than in europe or in Belarus.
He is a capable operator, but doesnt have the markebilty or popularity to call the shots and choose his opponents. He has to fight whoever is put in front of him wherever he can earn his paychecks.
I very much hope that Khan vs Romanov will really come off one day.I very much do so!
Khan is a classy fighter, but he has never faced such a tough opponent like Yuri in his entire pro career up to now.Romanov for sure has a chance to upset Khan's apple cart.
Khan's chin may be his weak spot, and as we all know Romanov has pop in his fists.
