Im both a mayorga and a palvic fan. For this fight I want the underdog to win (mayorga) but I KNOW palvic can finish him of in less than four rounds!

Mayorga's name has been brought up for everyone between 154 to 175 - I don't see this fight happening.

You call this "in the works!!!"? Give me a break. King made a phone call. Read what Arum says. Not in the next 3 fights at least.
"Arum said Don King, who promotes Ricardo Mayorga, has called him about matching Pavlik with the former welterweight and junior middleweight titleholder, "

I thought the information about an Abraham fight was the more interesting part of the article. Did you guys note what it said? "Kelly would like to make that a statement fight as he leaves the middleweight division." That pretty much ends the debate over when Pavlik will move to 168.

The poster missed the real news in this thread, so I started another one. Kelly has three more fights at middle weight, one with Abraham, and then moves up. Mayorga ain't happening. Lockett, Duddy, Abraham.

Its exicting fight but its bullshir cause Mayorga hasnt beat a ranked Middleweight EVER. His last 6 fights he loses to Spinks in a very strange fight, decisions some bum named Eric Mitchell, gets raped by Trinidad, decisions Micelle Piccurillo, raped by DLH,squeaks by a shot, sick Vargas.

Read the article. Arum's plan is Lockett, Duddy and then close out Middle Weight with a fight against Abraham. Then up to SMW? Calzaghe? Mayorga is a 'possibility' if something else falls through. There is nothing in the works that I can see from that article.

El Cigaretto Tequila RAPE AH, is probably the only guy I detest more than PBF right now. I'll never tire of watching EL Tough Guy get knocked the fuck out.
A Pavlik KO?:D That will be a beauty in brutality to watch and MY PLEASURE:good
Given the reports of Cotto vs Mayorga? The shame of Nicaragua has even more unconsciousness to look forward too.:hey

In any case it would be a bullshit fight...
Pavlik should pick opponents worthy of his status.
I'm a big fan of him, but I don't like the names that are being thrown around as possible opponents.
Good opponents at this stage are:
- Winky Wright.
- Arthur Abraham.

Didn't he say he wanted to go back down in weight because "this gentleman (Vargas) hit way too hard"
Gentleman Pavlik would definitely hit way too hard for Mayorga.

Gentleman Pavlik would definitely hit way too hard for Mayorga. I don't recall Mayorga ever being hurt by Vargas. I don't think Pavlik would easily ko Mayorga as people think. He would likely go out after a being worn by many shots like against Tito. I think De La Hoya had him out fast was because he first dropped him early with a punch (left hook) that Mayorga never saw coming and De La Hoya's speed certainly bothered him. Pavlik doesn't have the speed to do the same thing IMO. THis would play out like the Pavlik vs Zertuche fight. Zertuche came in to fight and gave it his all, but he was much too small to deal with Pavlik; eventually the punishment took its toll.

Mayorga said, in the post fight interview, that he wanted to go back down in weight because, and I'm quoting him "this gentleman hit way too hard".
I agree with you that he didn't seem hurt by Vargas' punches, I'm just quoting what he said.

Although Mayorga showed greater patience and a skill set he hasn’t previously exhibited in his fight with Vargas he was still fighting way above his natural weight and against a very depleted fighter. But his win will mean that not only will his career go on but King will rely on him to once again turn into his alter ego, that of the raving mad man, when he finds an opponent that will intrigue the public. It will, however, have to be at either welterweight or junior middleweight. Mayorga himself intimated that not only was 166 pounds, the catch weight for the Vargas fight, way too much for him but that Vargas hit much harder than he’d like to experience again.
“The weight was too much,” he said at the post fight press conference. “This gentleman hits way too hard.” It was a bit odd to hear Mayorga refer to Vargas as a “gentleman” considering all the names he called him leading up to the opening bell but it was nothing compared to when he walked across the dais and kissed Fernando on the cheek. But then this is the same guy who begged Oscar De La Hoya’s forgiveness and to get him some more money after having a dispute with Don King over his contract for his bout with the “Golden Boy”. De La Hoya was taken aback considering that Mayorga had the temerity to disrespect his wife as he would to Vargas’s, but again that’s all part of the Mayorga shtick.

If this fight happens will Pavlik receive the same negative critique as Jermaine Taylor did for fighting a Jr Middleweight? We'll see.

I never doubted what you said, but intended it as it being strange that he would have made that statement, considering that he didn't seem hurt throughout the bout. Interesting he said that though.

Sure he has a chance, but mainly if he can catch him early while he is cold like in the 1st or 2nd round. Especially if Mayorga can somehow get into his skin with his trash talking and show boating that he does with his hands down. Maybe he can egg Pavlik into pulling another stunt of sticking out his chin, just as Pavlik did in the 2nd round of the first fight against Jermaine. One thing Mayorga is good at is trash talking and mind games.
