Calzaghe is going to TKO Hopkins in the 10th or 11th round. Calzaghe at 175 is another animal it is obvious to even Ray Charles that his power is much better at 175. Joe is going to box BHop silly.

i usually dont like to get involved in Cotto/Mayweather arguments, or Calzaghe/Hopkins argument, due to the big sometimes senseless fanatism displayed by some, but i must say that to me personally, Calzaghe is the best fighter Bhop will have faced, aside from Roy Jones Jr. :bbb

That was amazing.

MasterFlo
04-10-2008, 11:50 AM
Wow, I couldn't be more amazed. He looks bigger and much stronger and somehow hasn't lost any speed at his age or his new weight. That actually made me alot more excited for the fight, I have a feeling we'll all be wondering why he didn't move up to 175 earlier in his career.

Calzaghe looks good. He has good hand speed, and I think that will present a problem for Hopkins. He will definitely have something in his sleeve to try to break Calzaghe's rhythm... that is Hopkin's game, being the spoiler. I think in the end though, Calzaghe takes him on points.

Calzaghe looks huge, and his punches look big to. He should have moved up a long time ago and forced the fights with Jones and Tarver when the were huge names.

Mothafucka!!! Joe was fast as lightning with some huge gloves. I know Enzo doesn't punch back but i am seriously starting to think that Joe is gonna TKO or even KO Hops.

joe is very underrated come the fight night I think all will see how great Joe actually is!

Thanks for the video and yal are right this is the best fighter Hopkins has faced since Jones. Alos it is probably the best Hopkins ever faced. But I think Calzaghe is going to beat him. Even people at my babershop thinks so and were all black. So yes Hopkins is in for a long night. To bad I have to go to the Jay-z concert that day or I would have been at the fight

Calzaghe is a very good fighter.

But I don't see why fans are impressed by this vid.

Enzo's meeting his punches half way (adding a lot to the impression of speed and power)... Calzaghe's is flat footed and they don't include anything to make him defensively aware.

Not a very good mitt session in my opinion. The kind of mitt work that look nice to the untrained eye but that will give you bad habits.

He looks very sharp no doubt.

We may even see an improved version of Calzaghe at 175 will be interesting to see how the step in weight favours him.

Everyone looks good doing mitt work.

What really was a problem to me is that there's not head movement, his timing looks off (he was missing the cue to go for the body), he's flatfooted and isn't keeping his hands up.

Thanks for the clip, you could tell Joe was letting up a little on his dad, because Enzo's hands looked like they were hurting at the end of the video, Cali looks a lot bigger, and i think he might even stop the 43 yr old Hopkins, i think the old man is going to have a long nite next week:tired

Seeing that makes me think Hopkins has a chance. Nice red ring though, you don't get those in Wales.

He does look quick, but I also noticed Enzo was meeting him halfway on a lot of those punches. Lots of guys look like P4P champs when no one is hitting back. Still, I am leaning towards a win by Joe here, but I wont bet on it and I certainly wont ever count Hopkins out of this fight unless the ref does!

TRUEBELIEVER 66

Cali is 7 years younger, faster, better stamina, higher workrate, and will be the bigger, stronger man in the ring, Hops dosen't have the power to hurt Cali either, JC has a chin of iron, That Fucking old fart Hops is going to his own execution on the 19th:yep

Yes, both about the same vid.

Joe is bulky, very bulky. I just don't see his stamina being the usual high levels in this fight. It almost looks like he hasn't trained very much. He's definately loading up on power and that to me, means one thing - he's going to go in there and try and wipe out Hopkins. Maybe even early. Joe's always talked of doing something spectacular in this fight, maybe that's his game. It's fucking risky if it is but I don't know, this is like the Joe Calzaghe of old... the one that stops fights early, the heavy puncher.

If that's the case, he kind of plays Hopkins game.

Truthfully i dont think Calzaghe needs to change much to beat Hopkins, for me personally PRIME 4 PRIME Calzaghe beats Hopkins.

I think Hopkins will try to make it a dirty fight, my only hope is that Cortez has a good night.

Hopkins has more of a chance than I thought he had before, assuming Calzaghe adopts the 'I'm going to blast this guy out and everyone will be in awe' mentality.

And I will be monumentaly pissed off if I don't get many rounds out of my $450 ticket.

BigBone
04-10-2008, 04:14 PM
Calzaghe looks superfast...

But... why is Enzo standing in the southpaw stance all the time? Joe's hitting the mitts as he was to fight a lefty... The other thing: watching these vids (of course mainly Joe and his dad in the ring and not sparring) it seems they don't even care to prepare for Hopkins' awkward style, moves, sholder rolls, movement... Joe is looking for the KO as he throws bombs in the vid especially to the body. But then again, he's practicing to land a bodyshot on a lefty...

Anyone knows who were Joe's sparring partners?

Enzo is hitting his hands.

It's a decent observation but you just have to take my word for it when I say the following:

I have following Calzaghe's career since well before he became WBO champion and I have never seen him hit harder in training than in these videos - even allowing for Enzo meeting the punches (which he always has done).

There's a massive difference.

The same ones as usual, his gym buddys. Enzo Maccarinelli, Bradley Pryce, Nathan Cleverley & Gary Lockett.

I believe there is a good chance his energy level will remain the same. Remember, he's not draining himself before the fight, and he's getting much more nutrition now -- something Calzaghe himself has said. He looks very comfortable at this weight, kept his speed, but will have more power.

I too, am surprised at the way he's working the mits IE loading up with more power.

I can't believe how big he looks. His walking around weight is only a few pounds heavier than what he's at now, right?

he is a cruiseriweght when out of training. 185 pounds he said he was when macca beat gonzalez. and he looked pretty fat. we saw what happend to winky when he went that heavy. he looked fat latargic and thw wieght didnt suit him.

He says he walks around at 14 stone. My suspicion is that he's been hovering around 12st 7lbs for a while now. I don't think anyone can question the amount of pop looks more impressive than for a long long time. He's not holding back like he normally does.

I can see there non stop punching, combinations. Working on stamina, accuracy, reflexes and few other things. Here I see one or two punches which Joe cant miss because his father is just hitting his hands

Even this body work of Hatton looked more impressive. Boy BHop gonna kill that Brit :D

mayweather could use 1 of Calz glove for a king size bed.
diff with mays training is that its pitta patta punches anybody could do that all day long with roger hittin him with the pads and then both walk away at the same time to look real cool.
