Gomez is decent but I don't think Cotto would need to hit and run against him. That's not his fight game anyway.

It won't happen, imo, although Gomez does look a fair bit bigger from some of the pics I've seen. Nice to know your willing to be consistent though. :good

Look at the size of Gomez head. There is no way Cotto can miss a target that huge.

I can see Cotto fighting Gomez like he did Mosley changing the tempo of the fight by boxing and then mixing it up on the inside.

Ive said it before this is a good fight for Cottoin the sense that Gomez will make him work for the win.

Gomez is game and he hase nothing to lose this type of fighters can be very dangers. but i don't think cotto is underestimating him.

He might box more once he relizes that Gomez is stronger and the bigger man. I unlike you see nothing wrong with a man using his boxing skills to win a fight.

Cotto can be effective at using the ring and moving laterally and on the backfoot. I don't consider it "running" or "hit and run" although others do.

Cotto might do it if he's having success doing it and Gomez takes his shots well.

Gomez might be able to absorb Cotto's shots well since he's used to being in there with bigger guy.

Abduleav and Ndou, for instance, were strong tough guys that Cotto outboxed by using the ring and boxing on the backfoot.

Come on people, did you see Gomez fight a washed up Ben Tackie? There is no way he beats Miguel Cotto, none. Cotto only has to fear getting struck by lightning in the ring, that is about the only way he loses.

Yep People might want to rethink that Cotto will stop him in 3 rounds bullshit.

Yeah, Gomez will be a game, live opponent for Cotto. I actually don't think that this is a bad fight for him to take, assuming that he fights the winner of Cintron-Margarito next.

That's what I've been trying to tell people. Cotto is good but Gomez is strong and tough as hell. I see Cotto winning but people give me that same 3 round bs as well.

man if Cotto does that ... then I give him much credit ... you have to win first and impress last.

I think that it would be very smart of Cotto to do that against a guy who's obviously bigger than him.

PBF hurt his hand against Baldomir and beat him with one hand ...

Why not use your speed if you have the advantage ... If Cotto finds it easy to hit and run and get the victory - then why not do it.

He doesn't owe us anything but a good fight and he can have a good fight while boxing at the same time - I give him much props.

I like it when he boxes anyway ...

Chances are he won't ... he'll have the crowd advantage and he aims to please ... I see him engadging and often trading ... he can box, but its only a matter of time before he goes in for the kill.

When he does that he leaves himself open for a clean shot and Gomez is an accurate puncher ... he will be game for an exchange.

Who cares if he boxes ... threads like this make me question guys boxing knowledge and makes me wonder if they know anything the sweet science.

Knockouts are supposed to be a treat ... good effective boxing is where its at.

Just because he's bigger than him doesn't mean he's going to be an easy target. And if you notice during the stare down ... Gomez doesn't seem to be the least big intimidated.

I think that Cotto is in a catch 22 ... if he brawls he's subject to get KO'd ... if he boxes then he's subject to get ridiculed. He's not known for boxing to most of his fans ... they think he can blow guys away by any means.

Gomez is gonna be in catch 44.MAGNUM's mode.

Gomez is tough and has some skill but he's going to find out what the next level is all about!

I don't see Cotto hitting and running against Gomez, that's not the type of fighter Cotto is. When Cotto was badly hurt against Corley and Torres, he fought right back instead of sticking and moving. Both of Cotto and Gomez like to fight on the inside and I expect this to be a very exciting fight.
