View Full Version : Gatti is done.
Man that was hard to watch. I love him. Hes one of my favorite fighters but its not there no more. Please praise the man that has entertained us for 16 years.
!!
<3 Gatti
Its sad to see a guy go out looking so bad. One of my favorite fighters of all time. I really wanted him to win this, but it looks like hes done :(

Gomez schooled Gatti.
Awww man. At least he's going out badly against a likable fighter.

That killed me to watch that. From the 1st round on it was hard. It just killed a little part of me as a fan. Thanks for the memories. Please retire, you will prove nothing by fighting on.

elderly abuse. Gatti was around for a long time as a top fighter. It would be great if Gatti and Mick opened up a gym together, something to do in retirement.

The last 10 seconds of the fight looked like a symbolic ending from a movie. Gatti getting punished, but trying to fight back, then one last punch landing perfectly on him and he falls down in slow motion with his face in the canvas. There is absolutely no reason why he ever needs to fight again.

RJJ may be next.
Kind of makes Calzaghe more impressive considering he has been around about as long as they have.

I hope Gatti retires, he has given us so much over the years I'd hate to see him get seriously hurt.
Oh and BOOOOO kellerman.
Is he still going to fight JCC Jr?
I doubt it.
I hope Gatti hangs them up.
Gomez wants JCC JR though.

Do you want to see the poor guy on a stretcher?
We all knew Gatti was done after the Baldomir fight.

RJJ may be next.
Kind of makes Calzaghe more impressive considering he has been around about as long as they have.It hardly does. Gatti is a brawler/warrior. Calzaghe is still with us because he boxes. He is going to have a longer shelf life for that reason.

He actually made Gomez look like a world beater... that's sad.:-( Later Gatti.
That about says it all. Time for Gatti to pack it in.:yep

I've seen Calzaghe brawl more than once.

Nothing special, I just don't like him to be honest.
He did say to Gomez that he fought an over the hill Gatti tho.

I never liked the idead of Ward training him,his timing was off badly and he looked winded by the 4th,also 147 has never been good for him ...He just got very very old right in front of our eyes ....As a fan of his i hope he retires and stays retired so he doesnt permanantly damage himself.

I've seen Calzaghe brawl more than once.I'm not debating that. The brutal k.o.'s the brutal wars is what made Gatti into what you have today. Calzaghe is not having those wars. Like I said his shelf life should be longer.

Not that impressive. While something must be said for Gatti's face forward style and Calzaghe's boxing skills, look at their resumes for the real answer.
At super feather, Gatti fought former or current world champs Patterson and Ruelas.
At his predominant weight class of 140, Gatti fought current or former world champs MAYWEATHER, Leija, Dorin, and Grove.
Moving up to 147, Gatti fought former or current world champs DE LA HOYA and Baldomir.
That's 8 former or current world champs in THREE weight classes. Not to mention 2 fighters who were in the Top 3 P4P when they fought.
Calzaghe, in his illustrious career at super middle, has fought current or former world champs Eubank, Mitchell, Brewer, Reid, and Lacy.
At 175, Calzaghe fought...well, he never fought there.
That's 5 former champs in one class, with 0 P4P fighters at the time of their fights.
When you compare the two resumes, it's clear to see why one has less wear and tear than the other. What's so impressive about that?

I was able to see the first 6 rounds and Gatti looked very slow reflex wise. He needs to stop before he endures more brain damage.:-(

im pretty depressed now. i went to my friends gf's house to watch this (she's the only person i could find with HBO) just for the gatti-gomez fight. gatti is the reason i ever got into boxing and i was hoping that he'd pull through with one more win. he just looked so awful and now he's in the hospital. i do think the ref let it go on a little longer than it should have but at the same time a piece of me was almost willing gatti to come back like he had so many times before. im so sad now..:bart
