This is a proposed fight between the two ... I think that both guys are aggressive fighters and both will be coming forward.
My question for you guys is ... How will Cotto stop Margarito from coming?
Margarito has a good chin, he fights well on the inside, and he has a high workrate.

get more in depth ...
I see this as being a good action packed fight ... I would love for Cotto just to box his way to victory but at the same time I think that Margarito can and will bait him into a brawl -- you can't defend 100 punches coming at you.
of course they're going to hit each other its a fight ... but I see it being very discouraging seeing a guy constantly coming at you with punches.
the same goes for Margarito as well ... I see Cotto focusing on the body, this fight can very well end on a body shot.
If the fight goes on the inside - I see this being a war of wills ... who will push who back ... I know Cotto can fight going backwards ... but will he elect to back up

I think Cotto would win. The speed differential will be the factor.

before the Judah fight I underestimated Cotto speed ...

All Cotto has to do is use his jab to keep him at bay just like Williams did...
Easier said than done.
Williams has freakish reach and pumped the jab 10 a second.
Cotto can't do it in the same way as Williams.
I think Cotto will get drawn into a fight, but he won't be able to stop Margo, it'll be a war.

I think Cotto picks him apart as he comes forward and forces a nice TKO in under 10 rounds.
No way in hell Cotto stops Margo. However, I do agree that he would pick him apart. Margarito doesn't understand the meaning of defense. He also has ridiculously slow foot and hand speed. Cotto would easily beat him to the punch all night. As long as he doesn't stand trade with Margo, he should be able to take a decision.

This fight if it happens could be one of the most exciting action packed fights in a LONG time.

Cotto would cut Margo's punch output in half with his footmovement alone.

ok for everyone getting too excited bc margarito dominated cintron last night, guess what? he dominated him in their last fight too and nobody was picking margarito to win before yesterday. cotto would have done the same thing to cintron if not worse last night because cotto is much more skilled than margarito is. sure tony is a tough guy but cotto has power, speed, and the ability to outbox him if need be. cotto will win this fight easier than he did the shane fight in my opinion.

Williams almost got knocked out and lost the championship rounds. His punches lost pop after the mid point and he was just pitty patter ... I think that to fight Margarito effective Cotto will have to box on the inside effectively and back him up ... I never seen Margarito fight backwards ... and usually with guys like that they're not that effective going backwards.
Cotto can also counter ... but he runs the risk of getting hit with some bullshit.

Cotto couldn't stop Margarito from coming forward ...
I have to admit after watching Williams v Margarito again ... Williams did the damn thing and won IMO 8-4
