Stopped in the 10th round by Ola Afolabi.

So is he still the future of the cruiserweight division?

Wow.

Was he ahead on the cards or no?I'm not sure, but his opponent dropped Fields twice in round 8 and finished off the job in the 10th and final round.

I thought Fields's win over Davis may have been a bit overrated. Some guys here had pegged as the next champ based off that alone.

Has anyone seen Afolabi? I've seen him once against Michael Simms and he was pretty limited at that time. Strong but crude technique and a lot of power. Pretty large setback for Fields.

The yanks were claiming him the man to thump Haye. Who next America, or will you just understand David will be unstoppable.

They are both cousins of Evan Fields.

Wow. I am shocked. I saw Fields fight twice and he looked good both times. Of course, that was against very limited competition. Looks like another big prospect bites the dust. Who's next?

Stunning.. I really had him and Aaron Williams as two of my top prospects out there today, such a shame. He can get back though, his speed is still lightning for CW.

Surprising. But then if you saw the way he blasted Kelvin Davis, you had to think he was something damned special. Hopefully he bounces back.

Trust me, Aaron Williams' turn is coming.

These guys are all much better fighters than Eric Fields. Linares and Donaire are champions. No way they would lose to some random journyman.

But in all honesty, Eric has GREAT speed, its pretty obvious.

David Haye had Lolenga Mock and Carl Thompson behind him, Eric may have Ola behind him, it happens to young guns, I wouldn't totally count Eric out just yet

Haye lost in one of his early bouts does that mean hes not good? Of course not.

Eric imo still has some time to bounce back... and he could make a big impact on the division. Don't count a prospect out just becouse he lost a fight.

If Klitschko had never lost to Purrity early on who knows if he would've come back from the Sanders or Brewster losses so well. Haye also lost early and has learned from it.

I am not discounting him. I have seen him fight and he looked fast and powerful. He also put his shots together nicely and is clearly talented. But as always an American prospect gets spoken of as the next coming and Haye who has proven himself was being dismissed as a soon to be victim of Fields.

Fields had what 10 fights as a pro? And he was being hyped up as some destroyer of every Cruiser based on a few early fights. It is just funny to see a reality check.

Also, lets not compare losing to Thompson and losing to Ola. Thompson was proven world class, had an incredible ability to absorb massive punishment and a big punch. He had just sparked Rothmann after soaking up a huge amount and was used to fighting with the best in the world.

I only posted this four times or so back when everyone was gushing: Yes, he looked good against Davis, but you have to remember that Davis was shot and extremely chinny at that point.

You have to see a guy more than once to effectively judge his potential. People are far too quick to jump on and off bandwagons on these boards.

Afolabi isn't a bad fighter, it's a big setback, but Fields is young and still comeback.

True, but Ola's not remotely in Thompson's league.

Fields is clearly skilled and naturally gifted in physical terms, but so's Zab Judah. It'll be interesting to see where Fields, Huck and Hernandez go from here. I'd still pick Cunningham and Enzo over all 3, but there's plenty of talent in the division.

A lot of people figured he was gonna move up to Heavy and be I guess the American version of Haye.

Aaron Williams is a much different fighter than Eric Fields. He's hard as hell to hit, while Fields lives off his hand speed and power. Williams has it all.

Aaron Williams is a much different fighter than Eric Fields. He's hard as hell to hit, while Fields lives off his hand speed and power. Williams has it all.Williams' defense is quite sloppy. He seems like he wants to implement the shoulder roll defense, but he executes it poorly. If he tries that shit once he steps up in competition, it's going to cost him big time.
