what do you mean what style do I prefer?....

what style i like to watch, what style i like to use, what style i like to fuck in....there is many variables to this question

Which do you like to watch?

I'm guessing Tiger and Barkley aren't big fans of runners/potshotters. :)

I like both.

Watching a Gatti/Ward fight is great.

But watching art like RJJ in his prime or Floyd.

Although Floyd / Baldo wasen't a Gatti Ward, watching someone pick apart someone with such ease excited me.

this thread should be deleted. this is like asking whether vanilla or chocolate tastes better. a) there's a zillion other flavors and flavor combinations and b) each has its time and place.

Damn straight. And seriously I think Floyd would brawl with Tony just to showboat and embarass the guy who's talked the most trash about him. He's got a hell of a chin and Tony lacks one-punch KO power, so why not?

Which do you prefer?

Runners/Potshotters
PBF 24 kos of 38 fights.......63% of the time
Green 17 kos of 25 fights.......68% of the time
RJJ 38 kos of 55 fights........69% of the time

Brawlers
Holyfield 27 kos of 52 fights......52% of the time
Pac 35 kos of 49 fights....71% of the time
Hatton 31 kos of 43 fights.....72% of the time
Gatti 31 kos of 49 fights.....63% of the time
Margo 24 kos of 38 fights......62% of the time

Looks to me like some of your "Runners" have just as much punch as your brawlers do and in the case of RJJ and PBF they have or did do it for years without getting touched like your "Brawlers" did.

I prefer skill.

Style doesn't matter.

If you got skills and a brawler, I like that. If you got skills and prefer to potshot, I like that too.

Hence why I have Roy and Floyd up there with Cotto.

And Margarito WAY down below... :good

Exa-der-mundo!

Does he honestly think a bunch of polled writers is a valid argument? That's like getting all the Margo huggers on here, getting them to "write" an article to some supposed media source (ain't that hard these days), then going to the fight and biasely scoring for Margo (ala Fischer and Kim)...

I prefer runners & potshotters. As skillful as infighting can be, it rarely impresses or excites me. Gatti vs. Ward was more exciting when they were arms length away and catching each other w/ straights and long hooks, than when they were in tight. And as praised as Corales/Castillo I was by everyone, I liked it, but it wasn't as great for me as it was for others.

I would rather watch PBF or Paul Malignaggi fight from the outside any day than watch B-Hop, Corrales, or Hatton.

On a side note, have you noticed that style of fighting is only called potshotting when the puncher doesn't get hit back? I guarantee that if PBF or Spinks or Malignaggi got hit more often when using that style, more people would accept it.

That's not what the polled writers said :rofla new low for the huggers. disregard alltogether what the judges say. he actually feels good about Margo because the sports writers(whom probably very few have boxed) had Margo. pathetic.

Runner/potshotter sounds negative, and in my mind it isn't. I'd rather call that a boxer. I prefer the kind of style that wins fights, regardless what it is, so long as it's within the rules of boxing. Every boxer has very specific natural attributes, and I find it fascinating to see how a boxer uses his advantages and limits his limitations. It's all about winning with what you've got, in my mind. Asking a fast, counterpuncher with limited physical strength to brawl with a brawler is rediculous. Besides, boxing isn't just about smashing in hard punches and seeing blood flying - it's an art. I like watching Whitacker's sick defensive moves as much as a prime Tyson attack.

Oh, give me a brawler anyday, particularly one who can crack. Don't get me wrong - I'm not one of these guys who doesn't appreciate the "sweet science." I like to watch boxers do their thing to. Watching Mayweather completely embarass Gatti was like watching a clinic in how to "hit and not get hit." But like many boxing fans, in my heart of hearts, I love brutal knockouts, and guys just teaing off on one another.

Allan Green doesn't belong in the runner/potshotting group. His fight with Miranda was the only time in his career he's fought backin up

Zakman come on buddy! I know you're not legitimizing this black and white, oversimplified delineation of all prizefighters!

Excellent point. Chris Byrd doesn't belong in that group either. I have never seen him do much backing up.
