View Full Version : Who Else Put Their Money on Serra For The Repeat This Weekend?

Just curious.

Short and sweet explanation: Serra KO'd GSP so there should be a psychological advantage for Serra during the stand up fight. Serra is years beyond GSP in terms of submissions and should be able to win the fight on the ground.

How do you guys see it?

You gotta be kidding.

GSP and Calzaghe are free money.

Put some on vbookie for Serra cus the odds were ok, but real money would be on GSP, he looks awsome. Calzage/Hopkins is a closer fight than this. Bet on Hopkins

yes, years behond him in submissions.....GSP just submitted Matt Hughes....no easy task....when'e the last time Serra submitted anybody? They said the same thing before he fought KOS that he would easily out wrestle GSP, if Serra should win it would be from a punch not a submission.

LMFAO. MMA does not equal sport ju jitsu. His only chance is the haymaker punch, and if they fought 100 times he would only get it once. He used that turn up, and you lost your money.

That's exactly the way I see it too.

GSP is a muthafucking cyborg from the future- whose only mission is to destroy Matt Serra, Matt was lucky enough to find the cyborg's kill switch last time (his chin)- but this time the cyborg's smarter and more motivated. (enough of sounding like Mr Kool)

GSP will be in incredible shape, and will put a systematic beatdown on Serra which will end in a spectacular submission (possibly armbar).:thumbsup

I wouldn't bet on this fight. I really think that it is impossible to judge how GSP will show up mentally. I will be able to tell before the fight though. However, even if he is mentally ready... I wouldn't be positive that he wins. I think that Serra actually matches up decent against him. GSP is going to be a bit timid on his feet, and I really don't think that GSP will be in a hurry to take it to the ground either. I give Serra a better chance at repeating than most do. He already showed that he can knock GSP out (and has that in GSP's head), and he is comfortable off his back. Of course, GSP should still be the favorite, and he should win the fight. I really hope that GSP wins... but I would be lying if I said that I wasn't a bit nervous for him.

Not the way I see it.

Well I can't claim to be omnipotent, but looking at their big time careers, Serra has 1 sub and 1 tko total, GSP has run roughshod through the division unlike anybody in history, more top fighters than fedor, more than anderson silva.

I don't mean to take away from Serras win, but it was one of those 1980 olympic hockey moments, its Otsuka beating Ruas, its Sakuraba losing to Schembri.

This is a tough one for me being Italian American AND French Canadian on different sides of the family I hope for a draw, lol but I think GSP wins by RNC in the 2 round.

I also think Calzaghe wins by ref stoppage in the 9th.

Serra is from Long Island like myself but I still think he's an asshole. He got lucky last time & lightning rarely hits the same spot twice. I'm going to go out on a limb & predict GSP by KO over Serra with a kick to the head followed by the best ground & pound elbows in the sport. Serra will be a bloody mess.

GSP GSP GSP GSP GSP GSP !!!!!!!!!!!!
he is the fighter who brought me to this great sport!!!!!
GSP WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope he fuck Serra badly, no one can insult our great province and language you fuckerrrrrrrrrr
Hey now - I have nothing but love and respect for GSP. He is one of my favorite fighters.

But we're discussing head to head competition against Matt Serra.

All other factors excluded: Serra beat GSP last time. I am saying it can happen again.

lol

Otsuka beats the older version of Ruas every time they fight. The younger Ruas would have been able to keep up the pace. But I get your point.

I'm just speaking up for Serra because no one else will and the fight is almost here.

I can't wait. It should be a great fight no matter which way it goes.

I think Serra is fucking hilarious. Maybe a little on the asshole side but that makes him funnier.

I think it can definitely happen again especially considering the fact that Serra is very good on the ground.

I agree. I'm a big GSP fan but I find it hard not to like Serra. Even when he's acting like a total jerk, there's always something very tongue in cheek about it.

I'm not sure he's better than GSP though, simply because of George's size and strength. If I had to bet on a Serra win, I'd be way more confident going with a KO.

I don't bet on anything, even MMA. But putting some down on Serra isn't a bad bet. He's got a decent shot, and it's a good payout. I think Serra's the type of guy that will give GSP fits, and I'm not expecting a blowout tonight. GSP will likely get his revenge, but Serra's going to look like a champion on his way out.

Serra is a tough guy to beat, most of his fights go to UD's and he really doesn't have any weaknesses. His short stocky frame makes him a difficult oppenent. I just hope GSP can beat him and move on to bigger and better things.

As dominant as I expected, not quite as violent, but Serra isn't even a top 6 opponent of GSP's.

well, it didn't happen that way. gsp dominated serra at stand up and on-ground. gsp is just on a whole different level..

Very impressive performance by GSP. I knew he was the greater fighter, but I was honestly worried that he was going to have another huge mental setback. He just went in there and mauled Serra.

GSP dominated. Wasn't even close. Crow tastes good. Yum yum!

As for B-Hop- Clazaghe - I thought Hopkins clearly won the fight. Judges saw it differently.

I wonder what Jon Fitch is thinking right now? He's another wrestler that will get beat at his own game. He is a good matchup for GSP.
