Now people, please, please, please before you come running to the website tomorrow night screaming “robbery!” I deplore you to stop and consider just exactly how to score a fight.
Hopkins will land approximately 10 clean scoring punches per round on Calzaghe having thrown a total of 20 (almost all power shots), yielding a 50% efficiency rate.
Calzaghe will throw approximately 90 punches per round, granted that the vast majority of these punches will hit arms, gloves and thin air, I guarantee you that he’ll land at least 20 clean punches, yielding a 22% efficiency rate.
Now what I am about to say should be patently obvious to anyone who considers themselves an exponent of the sweet science. Hopkins, despite his clean, efficient and economical work, unless he is landing with painful blows that are visibly hurting Calzaghe, is going to lose those rounds.
Please remember this before you spew forth your shit about how Hopkins was robbed and should have gotten the decision.

True but wouldn't Hopkins know this as well and have a plan to win?

True, but neither will throwing 1000 punches with a 10% connect ratio.

You'd have thought so but he didn't seem to realise this when he rematched Taylor in almost a carbon copy of the first fight with him believing he did enough even though he was clearly out-landed in the majority of the rounds.

Well, debate time is at an end. Count down to D-Day and the zero hour.

The thing is that it is so horribly predictable, if it goes 12 there will be those retards out there who said Hopkins should have gotten the nod because his work was cleaner and more efficient. They will pay little to no attention to Calzaghe’s 12 rounds of aggression and superior connects.

I'm picking;
Hopkins TKO 10
Hasn't changed since the fight was announced.

Haha, good prediction. Only Calzaghe threw less but connected more in percentages so he was even more effective than Hopkins.
Nice!

Good call Fallow, although I'm sure you'll admit that it wasn't exactly the hardest call to make!!:hey

Top notch stuff.
I doubt it will deter the haters, spinsters and revisionists though but great stuff on calling them out before the first bell even rang!

Agreed, a good call, not a great one. It was so obvious to me how this fight was going to pan out, Hopkins throwing a couple of neat looking rights and expecting to win rounds and calling the decision bullshit when he inevitebly lost. The only real surprise was that Calzaghe was funnily enough the more efficient fighter on the night! :lol:
Everyone says Hopkins is so crafty and clever but he never learns, 24 rounds against Taylor produced two losses and he honestly believed he was going to beat Calzaghe doing the same. That's not crafty, that's not clever, that's just plain stupid.
