I think if you review some vid on Charles you'll change your mind.

But I'd take Floyd Patterson and Michael Moorer as well, it'll take video to convince some people of those picks but I'm certain of them.

You pick Moorer by KO? Because it's hard for me to see him outboxing Spinks.

...........Too thin a resume at LHW for Moorer to pick him over Spinks. What was in that won you over? His brilliant demolition of Ramzi Hassan? :huh

Add Michael Moorer.

I am not sure if I would favor them over Spinks but they have good chances at it.

Watch some of his fights at LHW, such as his fights with Leslie Stewart, Stonewalker, etc where he shows his limits. He was not as good as people have been making him out to be.

I think if you review some vid of a prime Charles at LHW rather than an old Charles at HW you'll change your mind. I'd take none to beat him at his peak.

Patterson is an excellent choice, and makes me rethink the statement I just made.

I am almost certain that every fighter mentioned here stops Jones Jr at LHW, who simply is not as good there as he was lower. His defensive ability and speed is what made him good at this weight, and most of these fighters, especially Spinks and Foster negate that speed with length and jabs.

I definitely like the call on Floyd Patterson.

Michael Moorer? I don't know really. It's been a while since I've watched a fight of his at light heavyweight. The Leslie Stewart one comes to mind because he was actually outboxing Moorer early, and Stewart didn't have nearly the technical skills or adaptability of Spinks. I suppose he would have a puncher's chance, but in every other aspect, I think Spinks was better. My take is that Spinks starts out very defensively aware because of Moorer's power, trys to figure him out, and carefully picks his opportunities with the right hand. Moorer started quick from what I recall, whereas Spinks took a little time to get warmed up. Over 12, I see Spinks outclassing him behind his superior boxing skills and awkward, jerky style. Of course, surviving some rough moments along the way.

It's tough to assess Moorer because he never really proved himself against elite opposition at light heavyweight.

Is it me, or has Moorer become VASTLY overrated at 175?

JK...

Honestly, depending on who you ask. I thought he was one of the 4 or 5 best ever at that weight (behind Jones, Spinks, Foster and Charles)...others tend not to agree.

With Moorer at LHW, it's about Power. Nothing subtle. The question is, what happens if he runs into a guy he won't be able to simply plow through who has some skills.

DM is a good example of this. Or even a prime Virgil Hill.

He defended his belt against the likes of Izzy Alive and Tom A. Toekan.

Actually, I'd pick Spinks to stop Moorer anywhere from 8 to 12.

:lol:Even then, I consider him very overrated. He was a limited fighter. Watch his fight vs a skilled, slick(yet far from top notch) boxer in Leslie Stewart. I'd take quite a few to outbox him, a few to stop him.
