View Full Version : Gatti-Gomez!!!!!!!!!!!!
what a HORRIBLE stopppage! Did anyone agree with that??? Gatti would have gotten up. Gomez punched himself out theres no way he had the stamina to keep going. Gomez was winning, but Gatti was coming on.
Id like to see Gatti make one more run at a title he clearly is not as skilled as he used to be. Hes still trouble for most 147 pound fighters, just not the elite. I think Cintron-Gatti is a WAR.

If we applied the Roy Jones vs Tarver logic here we could say that Gatti has had a china-chin all along.

Arturo had already for all intents and purposes been beat by the count when it was called off. Wasn't it at like seven before he even started getting on his knees?

This thread is obviously a joke. Gatti Cintron lolol. sadistic.

It was sad watching Gatti in that one. He needs to stop fighting. Only so many wars a body can take--he's long past his sell-by date.
Thanks for all the memories, Arturo. Please retire.
you guys are wrong I know he has something left even Manny Steward said so. He was getting up at 7 he would have gotten up.

Exactly. I wish they'd let Newman finish it so we wouldn't be subjected to this sort of idiocy. I'm sick of Know-it-All Commisioners like Larry Hazzard second-guessing their refs and jumping into the ring. They should have let him finish the ten count. Gatti wasn't gonna beat it, and that woulda been that.

I didnt like that Larry Hazzard bullshit either. TO me it was grandstanding. LOOK AT ME I CARE ABOUT FIGHTERS!!! fuck you let Neuman do his job. Gatti wouldnt have beaten a 20 count there.

i was kinda hoping they stopped it before the knock out i knewit was over and as a gatti fan i didnt wanna see him go out like that or worse end up real hurt he put up an effort but it wasnt enough
i hope he keeps his word and retires , he has been good for boxing over the years and it would be sad for him to try and come back and end up as a joke....

I have just the opportunity to watch the fight. Gomez looked good on the contender and he looked very good against Gatti. After the third round Gomez had complete control of Gatti and Gatti appeared to run out of ideas.
It was a very good take out by Gomez, but even a die hard Gatti must admit he is done now. Please retire.

No, that was the right thing to do. Gatti was taking too much punishment at that time and not returning anything. Gatti wasn't CLOSE to coming on. And Cintron - Gatti would be a joke. If someone who isn't a heavy hitter like Gomez stops him, landing his jab and right at will, Cinrton would hurt Gatti VERY BAD.

You have absolutely no knowledge of boxing. The stoppage was LATE Gomez was giving Gatti a horrible beating Randy Neuman the ref was a disgrace when the fool started counting over Gatti this place went crazy. Thanks to Larry Hazzard Arturo Gatti is OK But I hope and pray he never fights again Congrats to Fonsie Gomez I hope your great win leads you to many more lucrative fights in future

It looked like Gatti really gained his senses a long time after the ref stopped it when he was surrounded by the doctors and he started shaking.
you guys are crazy! He may not have won the fight, but he still had a shot. Id like to see him continue there are still some big fights he can win.

:nut :nono dumb comment, Gatti took brutal shots the whole fight and showed his steel chin once again. He showed that he has nothing left but a chin, but his chin was solid, since he took nearly every punch that Gomez threw flush on the face since he has no movement left. The guy is a warrior, but he needs to fight no more battles. Arturo, you are a legend it is time to start promoting or commentating.

In the last couple fights, Gatti has gone down to the canvas with a look in his body like the entire world is on his back. The man is finished. That was a great stoppage by Hazzard.

if your a true Gatti fan, you know hes got a couple fights left.
Mayweather beats him
Mosley beats him
Cotto beats him

Margarito he could beat
Cintron he could beat
Id like to see him go out fighting on of those two end his career with a bang.

Id hate to see Gatti fight again even if its against a no hoper, people were calling for RJJ retirement after hes back to back KO losses but they wernt one sided beatings or brutal KOs, Gattis one against Gomez was sickening the guy to more punishment in that one fight than a guy like PBF has hes entire career. Im a huge fan of hes but it was a good stoppage and he should never box again thats for sure.

You are either out of your mind or you're taking the piss. Gatti wouldn't beat Margaruto or Cintron, OK. Gomez, a light hitting, glorified journyman beat Gatti pillar to post. Let me repeat that-Gatti wasn't even competive with Gomez-he took a serious beating and was visciously KOed. Gatti is the very defintion of a shot fighter. He should never fight again, let alone against a big hitter like Cintron.
Gomez is a very good fighter though I think he beats both Marg and Cintron.

If you want to gauge how much trouble a fighter is in after a knock down, glance at his wife...
(Gatti's partner was hysterical and in need of restraint as her man was in so much trouble)
I worship Gatti. His legacy, style, achievements and character. What a boxer, what a guy. But he's done. Face facts. Let him enjoy a well deserved retirement.
