View Full Version : Time for Khan to stop playing and get serious.

By this I mean Khan simply MUST ditch Oliver Harrison and move his pre fight preparations in future to the USA. All this pissing about in Teneriffe hasn't done him any good, neither did it do Nicky Cook any good, nor Martin Power either. Some of you may recall may stated my Teneriffe training reservations as soon as it was announced Khan would be training there. To my mind, it's simply a 'jolly' for the trainers. Hatton and Calzaghe don't fanny around training in poncy locations.
Khan has talent in abundance, that much is obvious, but faced with his first real test,he showed glaring defects. These defects CAN be rectified, but it needs a world class trainer, and some quality sparring. Khan eventually managed to overcome Limond(who incidently was much improved from rather pedestrian fighter who lost to Arthur) on talent and pure heart. Against better fighters than Limond, pure talent and guts may not be enough.
Khan's bad habits such as dropping his left, and moving in and out in straight lines, as well as having no inside game whatsoever can be recitified if they are addressed quickly. It's time to change. NOW!!

I know it's hard to come to realise, but he's going to amount to nothing on the World Level. It's best just to face facts and move on.

He is a lot more likely to win a world title with an exceptional trainer. He does have a few tools.
i'm sure ****** will still manage to manouver khan into a world title fight. he'll just bide his time and wait for the wbo to become vacant.
btw did i dream it or did i hear khan say in a recent interview "i want one of the big three titles...it has to be the WBO, WBC or WBA"

He should get Manny Steward he seems to work well with talented fighers with dodgy chins.

Yeah he may well have got a crack at Graham Earl had he won the belt. But Katsidis beat him, and would anhialate Khan if they met anytime soon. So its probably best the world title ambition gets put into check, whilst his camp work on a few things. Also stems the public outcry over Khans opponents. They must now be aware he can't be pushed too deep after being given life or death by a supposed non-puncher last night.
Harrison was a strange choice. Was he not a kickboxing coach or something? More established trainers would have been able to help him out a bit more I feel.

Why exactly did Rubio cheer and clap when Khan was knocked down? I've never heard about this. Did he have money on it, or something? Seems an odd thing to do. The way it's been described previously, it feels like a plot or trap in a movie script. Not much mention about it from the ******/Khan camp afterwards.
