I never found any of Tyson's fights to be particularly entertaining. Not much good give and take, no real blood and guts battles (granted I've not seen a whole lot of his fights), he just ran out and beat the shit out of guys and many of his opponents resorted to excessive clinching to stay alive. I'd say Shane Mosley, Arturo Gatti, Pac and Morales off the top of my head.

I hear what your saying, check out the Ruddick fights, and even the the first Holyfield fight, there was a alot give in take in both of those. I think what makes Tyson so exciting is not only were you not sure was he was going to in the ring, but the man had devastating power, and really was the first tabloid fighter. Tyson was not only exciting in the ring, and leading up to the fight he made for great enertainment, with comments like " I will fuck you to you love me", or " Can I at least get a blow job", after a question was brought up about his life struggles.

Love him or hate him, Tyson was boxing during the 80's and early 90's, he would also capture our imaginations when he came out of jail in 95', so much so Showtime signed him to a multi fight deal that would put him over 100 mil, and even in to the 2000's, where he fought Lewis in one of the biggest PPV events at that time. There will be only one Tyson, fighters like that come around once in a life time.

17 replies and not ONE mention of Roy Jones Jr.???

Like him or hate him, he's got to be on the list.
For me...

NAZ
PAC
RJJ
Ironic Mike

I guess you could call Gatti "entertaining". If you like that kind of entertainment, you should watch me bang on my heavy bag, quite similar.

I love RJ to bits but, personally I found some of his unwarranted and unnecessary showboating annoying.

Tyson - Tiger against man in Romes Colosseum..exciting right? Tyson fights came close to that

Jones - hands behind his back..lets just stop there

DLH - most people forget..the man has fough them all and pretty exciting fights at that

PAC - most exciting fights in a five year span against legends of the sport..He put the lighter weights in primetime

Morales - its automatic, hed chase Raheem just to make a fight out of it. Switch southpaw just for fun

Golota has the complete entertainment package - low blows, ear biting, mind blowing DQ's, cowardice, courage, extracurricular activities outside the ring (eg., immitating a cop), surprise losses, surprising wins.

Roy Jones - the single most athletically gifted boxer I've ever seen
Naseem Hamed - always wanted to see him get ktfo
Benn - fierce power
Corrales - never seen a fight as good as his classic w/ castillo
Pacman - best value for money today
Tyson - back when he was unbeaten, he had a vicious aura about him. I was always excited just watching him walk to the ring (which, in fairness often lasted longer than the fight)

Honorable mention for Katsidis - brings the blood.

since we've got all the quintisential guys so far morales, tyson, pac, benn, rjj, corales etc.....

i'll say mayorga. his offense consists of wild swings combined with some fundamentals plus trash talking and a lot of posturing/taunting.

Anyone that doesn't recognize Tyson as the Icon of boxing with in the last 20 years is fooling themselves ..

Tyson single handedly brought life back into boxing , and was the 8th wonder of the world as far as boxing goes.

I like all these picks, but I'm surprised that noone has said Vargas, i thought he was always interesting and in some pretty good fights! I also thought some fanboy of Judah's would come in and say Judah, just because of the circus like career the man has had.
