We always hear people saying that RJJ never fought DM and was ducking him. Why doesn't anyone talk about Steve Collins? He was undefeated in his last 15 fights, defeated Nigel Benn and Chris Eubanks twice each.

How come no one ever writes about him?

first off, this would belong in the history section.

and secondly.........this has to be a joke. collins was rough and tough, but three classes below jones in terms of talent!!!

did i say three?? no, make that a different planet.

no one could imagine that collins would have been even remotely competative.

Collins was a tough bastard, but he would of taken a serious beating. And I mean serious.

I am just saying that it looks like everyone has forgotten him. Were his wins a fluke or something?? His resume looks great on paper and I must admit I don't know much about the man. I wasn't asking how he would do in a fight vs RJJ.

Collins is underrated had a great career 3 losses in middleweight title fightd never lost after goin up to super middle 2 close wins over Eubank and 2 tko over Benn even tho he wasnt the same after McClellan. No shame in losing to McCallum Kalambay or Johnson middle and supermiddle was so good back in the early 90s loads of talent there.

Well, truthfully, he fought both Benn and Eubank when they were past their best but even so, a wins a win.He was quite limited as a fighter.

I'd love to of seen him get a fight with Jones but it just never happened. I'd be rooting for him myself, being an Irishman, but Jones would of given him a hiding.

Collins imo was grossly overrated. He wouldnt have stood a chance against Jones and by the time he got to Benn and Eubank they were old men.

Would Calzaghe have recieved more credit for beating Collins than Eubank?

JC was supposed to fight Collins, but he pulled out, citing lack of motivation.

Maybe. If he had of fought and beat Collins, the haters would say he never fought Eubank:nut But had he of fought and beat Collins for the title, then I would f thought he'd of fought Eubank in his first defence anyway. We'll never know though. It certainly would of been a good scalp for JC to of had on his resume.

True, Collins should take more flack for blatantly ducking Calzaghe as well.

Maybe so, but it was ten years ago and Collins is no HoF. Fighters like him can get away with that. Calzaghe on the other hand, should he not fight Kessler would be brutalised. It's tough at the top as they say.

Collins was white... Eubanks and Benn are black. Many people still think boxing skills have to do with skin colour

I doubt that...it was said that Jones ducked him//besies, the real raeson Collins aint mentioned on here is because he handlty beat up the beloved overhyped Benn abd Eubank...TWICE each, may I add

the only ones who said jones ducked collins were collins himself and his promoter frank ******. fact of the matter is, collins wanted 3 million to fight jones, and HBO didn't think he was worth that kind of money. that's why the fight never took place.
