Montana can be rough, a decent puncher and unorthodox style, he has upset a few in the past. Mesi should stop him but Montana is ringtough Vet

Both Tua and Mesi are DONE and need to retire...

Or they should be fighting each other so they can rid us of at least 1 pretender.

Mesi if we look beyond the brain injury is a very dangerous heavyweight.. Its just that ethical matter of the truth.. Joe could probably hold a version of the title , but it can't be a rule for one and a rule for the rest..

Regulations are often in place to save fighters from themselves..

He has had his share of losses but he did KO7 upset 24-0 China Smith 2 times, 20-2 Jade Scott KO3, Dennis Bakhtov 20-3 TKO5, Uriah Grant TKO 12, 21 -4 Gabe Brown and Kenny Keene 40-2 W12, Salvadore Maciel 19 - 2 KO6....I think Tua will be too much for him but vs guy that keep him in there he is no joke

You don't need to be a champion or on the road to being a champion to fight. Some guys put on entertaining fights and make money doing it. They don't really care where they're ranked, and fans shouldn't either if the fight's a good one. And Mesi puts on good fights, granted, not as good as before his injury. But he could pack a house in Buffalo and whip a crowd into a frenzy. He can fight as long as he wants to and as long as people pay to see him.

Well Joe Mesi is undefeated and that means he must be a great fighter, right? :bart

Great fighter?

Yeah undefeated but not necessarily great . . . he hasn't fought anybody in the top 5 ranking up to this point, how can he be great?

And Mesi didn't fight in a long time + clearance from the medical examiner of the boxing committee does not mean that he is actually capable of fighting in heavyweight division.
Also if you recall, he was 3 times knocked down by Jirov, who is not and was not a true heavyweight - more of a cruiser.
I think Mesi found his place in commentators booth.

Jirov hitting him in the back of the head with an illegal rabbit punch is what caused Mesi to be knocked down in that fight, and also caused his medical problems.

Mesi still hasn't fought anyone in his comeback that shows what he's capable of. Don't count him out yet.

I thought that it was 3 knockdown punches that caused the brain damage.

I thought that it was 3 knockdown punches that caused the brain damage.

The first one was the illegal one, and after that Mesi was noticeably hurt.
