Carl Froch has now been appointed WBC mandatory, which now puts him in a very lucrative position. Just look at who his next 4 challengers are, all big names in the states!
1 .- Carl Froch (GB) BBBoC/COMM
2 .- Dennis Inkin (Russia) INTL
3 .- Mikkel Kessler (Denmark)
4 .- Jermain Taylor (US)
5 .- Edison Miranda (Colombia)
6 .- Jean Pascal (Haiti/Canada) LATINO/NABF
All of those are big fights, if he beat 3 of those 4 he would be huge!

If he beats three of those he will deserve the respect. We should hopefully have some good fights coming up and it is nice to have a Brit fighter in the mix with a competative bunch.

Very true; although that is a big IF. There are some good names on that list.

Froch, Haye and Khan will be our big hopes the next few years.

i am not convinced by froch until he beats any one of them listed. he talks the talk lets see if he can walk the walk. He has has a careful guided career to get him in that position. Also he is i think 30! which last time i checked at this time joe was already world champ! how carl keeps saying he is better the joe i never know

Very big IF. You can make an argument for all those guys beating each other. No one stands out head and shoulders above the rest, a very competative mix and I hope that when one of those guy loses they come straight back into contention.
The Super Middleweight division looks pretty hot at the moment and I can only see it getting better. A few more to jump up from Middle and maybe Byrd coming down plus Mundine is fucking off which is a good thing for the competion. The division has a few very good prospects coming through as well.
I think Froch will beat Berrio if that fight does happen. I hope he puts in a good performance that merit's his position and status. He should be coming into his peak now.

Once Joe drops the belts, Forch will be wbc champ and bute ibf. Kessler looks set to go for the wba.
you think taylor would go for the WBO or go after one of those guys??

taylor should fight froch and kick his ass and then bute, keep away from kessler for awhile

Nah Taylor will be looking for a few blown up Welters to fight.

I dont know how you can talk about Khan in the same sentance as Haye, my only hope for Khan is he fights someone who will fight back and hits hard so he is found out!

Joe should give up all his titles at 168 in he is not going to fight there any more.

I think he's keeping his belts just to piss off the other contenders. No doubt listening to him and ****** that they wish Froch only the worse.

Wrong. Once Joe drops the belts, Froch will have the choice of fighting for the vacant title, but he will not be gifted it. Inkin pulled out; he won't get the first choice. Look further down the list - KESSLER! He will take the choice of fighting Froch for the title. Game over for Froch.

I think Calzaghe will drop the WBC - it is not a Sports Network policy to have anything to do with the green belt!
The WBA has all but gone, so he is left with his favoured WBO strap - I would be surprised if they dare to strip him or hold an interim matchup, given that Joe has practically kept them in business!
I like Froch as a fighter, and feel he is ready - I just wish more of our fighters were willing to have a go at an elite title after 22 fights rather than padding the record with bums - Ricky, Joe and Junior take note!

It's the perfect fight to make Kessler look good and it would be for the WBC title. I think he'll take it now that Mandy has run away.

Funny when he called Pascal, Jean Fruit Pastielle after the sweets.

I think Froch has the kind of power to get anyones attention at SMW. I just wish he'd fought at a higher level in order to be ready for the names in that top 5.
You look at Taylor: he's been in with Hopkins, Winky Wright, Pavlik, Spinks - lots of good big fight experience.
Kessler: fought Mundine is Australia, Beyer in Germany and Calzaghe in Cardiff.
Miranda: Least experienced of the lot but took on Abraham in Germany, Pavlik and the much hyped at the time Allen Green.
Froch: ..... a couple of decent boxers in Nottingham who were past their best.
It's a typical British thing where his record is being built up but he's not testing himself and learning in order to be absolutely primed for facing the likes of that top 5. I happen to think that Inkin's camp have been guilty of a similar path for their boy.
Froch has got to number 1 by way of press releases. I hope he proves many people wrong by beating a Taylor or Kessler, but I just hope he's ready for it when the time comes.

I would not be at all surprised if he fights Jones at 168 so they can have lots of titles at stake.
Steady now Carl - no need to rush into that 23rd fight of your stellar career. After all you're only 30 yrs old. Look at that silly Kessler he's nearly 2 years younger, has had 39 fights and has already been a multiple belt world champion. Now take it easy big Cobra and think things through properly before rushing into anything

I could see a Froch-Pascal fight later this year for the vacant title.
That's of course if they both remean undefeated.
GYM and Hennessey have a very good relationship and I think they could make that fight happen.

I take your point about Witter, but Hatton and Calzaghe turned pro in their teens and had plenty of time to have those "learning" kind of fights and still win their world titles at 25/26. Froch is a different animal, I don't think he even turned pro until about 25 and he's 30 now and hasn't even had a shot yet. In that position, you need to get a bit more of a move on.

Thats my point - regardless of age. Too many of our fighters are being held back for whatever reason from 'superfights', Hatton 38 fights, Calzaghe 39 fights, Witter ? fights etc.
Froch is ready after 22 fights, get him in there. This should also apply to whoever young prospects we have - as soon as they are ready get them in, instead of taking 'keep busy' six rounders for the sake of it!

If ****** wasn't involved in boxing, the likes of Witter, Hatton, Froch, Calzaghe etc would all have duked it out by now.
He is very bad for British boxing IMO.
Despite Joe's talents, he will have a LOT of questions hanging over him if he retires and the less than amazing stateside fight will only fuel the fire.

GYM's promoter just said that if Pascal wins his next fight against Zuniga on June 6, he could climb up the #2 spot in the WBC ratings. So, yes a Froch-Pascal fight for a vacant WBC title this Fall could be in the mix especially that GYM and Hennessy have a very good relationship.
True, yet because he ain't a ****** fighter alot of British fans let him off with It.
like who? froch gets constantly slated on here. i haven't seen anyone defend his level of competition.

I wouldn't put Pascal against Froch. Zuniga he might be OK against, if he's careful and improved but Froch...I don't think so...

Fruit Pastille was all talk about Miranda not so long ago... obviously a load of bollocks really wasn't it ?
They were being groomed to fight each other, but the pastille wasn't nearly as good as the hype suggested.

You're talking Pascal down now, but he might be the best win on Froch's resume soon and his opponent when he wins the vacants strap...
Carl..."the fruit pastille swallower"...Froch
