As a real fan of Margarito and Williams I must first say that Williams deserves congrats for the biggest win of his career and his arrival on the big stage.
Second, to you scumbags who somehow saw that very entertaining fight and say Margarito "sucks" - you aresimply blind Fraud Groupies who will never understand what it means to display courage and toughness.
Sure, Margarito lost the boxing match on points, but he won the fight -
He was the one who delivered the beating, PW took it and showed he was willing to take the beating in order to get the win. . . this is why I believe FMJ would not take the fight - he does not have the courage to take the beating in order to get the win - PW is alot taller/bigger than AM, but AM walked through his punches and had him running a couple of rounds and holding alot cause he felt the power.
I had the fight even going into the last round, and after the punishement he took in the 11th, PW showed alot of heart in winning the last round . . . thus winning the belt.
How much more entertaining was this fight than the lackluster FMJ-DLH fraud of a superfight? Real boxing fans want to see both PW and AM in more big fights.
Somewhere Fraud is sitting back and smiling, but what he and his scumbag fans should realize is that this does not change the fact that he clearly ducked AM last year and already proved his own cawordice. . . .thats a done deal.

Well Margarito's courage and toughness looked more like fatigue .His problem is that he's a slow starter ..I'm sure that if the fight was 20 rds it be allot closer ..I will agree though this fight was 100 times better than DLH/Mayweather ..Thats how you come to fight like Williams bring it to the champ !

They played things up i the media. The so-called offers to Floyd and shane were not legit, and the media types while hype this fight failed to really tell one that. But should one go back, to say the Judah Floyd fight one would know that it was Floyd that offer Tony a REAL date for a REAL fight. That crap that Arum did was offer floyd what was a bs offer knowing damn well that he was done to fight Oscar. The part that really showed that Arum was full of sh*t was when Winky said that he would fight Tony for 5 million and Arum said Tony isnt a middleweight, or what about the fight that was offered him with Ouma??? you see Tony was a ducked fighter it was other things at play timing was bad, and really Arum was wanting to save Tony for Cotto, which is the reason that he tried with all his power to stop the Williams fights.

Wrong again Fraud Groupie. . . .Fraud didnt duck AM for a fight with DLH - (not even I could fault him for that) - He ducked AM for a fight with Spinks, when that fell through he settled for Baldy.

I dont agree with this assess ment at all. This fight was NOT close. Margo was NOT the aggressor nor did he dictate any part of this fight. PW dominated the majority of the fight and as for the holding...PLEASE! The ref was HORRIBLE. He kept warning Paul when on the opposite side AM was holding his arm. The holding was nothin in my book.
Margo was tough, but showed he is a B-Tier fighter in the fight. If he had boxing skills he could have made the fight closer. Since he does not, it was not close. I am not saying he was about top be knocked out, because neither were hurt. I am just saying that PW won all but about 3 rounds, which those 3 were even close.
There is no way in HELL that this was anywhere close to a split/draw.
Myopia is a helluva thing.
AM was NOT the aggressor ???
PW was not hurt. . . you musta missed the entire 11th round. :think
Ramshall1

Negative.
Cantina Margarita TRIED to be the agressor in spurts, but once he ate all the leather he stopped quickly. PLUS, how can you be the aggressor when you are outpunched 2-to-1? Seriously, PW threw 2x the punches.
As for the 11th, yes Margo did hit PW with more punches that any other round he fought, but I do not think PW was hurt at any point. He always threw back even when he was hit. If a fighter with power hits you, you will not be throwing sharp punches back. PW did that, so I do not think he was ever hurt. Cantina does not have power. He rushes in to crowd his opponent and just throws random, wide, or looping punches. PW gave him a boxing/fighting lesson.
he was the aggressor because he was moving forward and throwing the hard punches, PW's punches were not hard - just designed to keep AM off of him - it worked enough to get the decision, props to him. But to try to say AM was not the agressor is just wrong.
PW admitted AM hurt him. :patsch

To be honest....neither man looked like they were in a fight as brutal as the one they were actually in together....aside from a few burises on Margo's face and the Cut on Williams, neither man were really marked.
Williams won a competitive fight but Margo gave him some fits towards the end of the fight. The right man won however I feel for Margo b/c Paul was also a fighter that not many wanted and this was really Antonio's only option. No one else wanted a peice of him but Williams showed he is fearless like Margo has been showing as the former WBO champion. BOTH MEN will be avoided especially after their preformance over the weekend.
And I'm not sure how you could have the fight even going in to the last round. Margo won 4 rounds....5 at the VERY MOST (That's on the generous side). I will say Antonio dealt more damage with less punches but Paul completey out worked and controled the entire fight for the most part with his offensive onslaught.

bingo..
PW was moving A LOT.. and it wasnt forward..
but he won and props to him..
but he wasnt punishing nothing..
Margo is just a "tough as Nails" type of man.....Paul's nick name would have lived up to the hype had it been anther guy in there that wasn't as tough. I still say Paul is punishing.....its just hard to prove with a guy who has a granite chin and smiles a clean shots.

I could see those scores too, I scored the fight the same as the two judges and Merchant - probably due to the solid body work by AM. . . but either way we agree on the winner.

Floyd Offered Margo the date that Judah got he turned it down which was April 2006. Margo fought Gomez feb 2006 and was suppose to defend his title vs Williams in the fall of 2006, which he didnt do. At that point say what you will but Baldo was the true undisputed champion and the lineal champion and he wasnt a replacement for Spinks who was a guy that was kicked around but the truth is Spinks was already set to fight Kamazin in July of 2006. So tell me how Floyd would go after a fight with Spinks when Spinks was a huge dog who had a fight set three months down the line??
The offer from Margo didnt come until after the talks with Oscar and Floyd were coming to a climax.
You cats just make shit up no matter what the truth really is. Its as simple as following the broad. I know that cats like you try to change what happened to suit your argument. All you have to do is reseach this very site for the timeline of how things went down.
Ill say this much, had Floyd fought Tony instead of Baldo and beat him easy then you would have been saying that he was ducking Baldo. Its the way things are. If a fighter is on the top, and its not the guy that you like then he is ducking and avoiding this guy and that guy. Truth is you all seem to over look the fact that Margo rejected an offfer to fight Floyd. A REAL offer. You explain to me why he gets a pass for that then you bash Floyd and say he is ducking a fighter that he already offered a fight to???

Does anyone have an objective view of this fight? From what I saw Margarito fought exactly how I expected him. He started slow, and his punches were a bit wide and slow. He also never got tired, threw a good amount nice hard punches, and never seemed to be fazed by any of Paul's punches. Williams on the other hand, fought a much different, much better fight than I expected. He used his jab, rarely stood in front of Margo, and almost every time he got clocked he responded by throwing a multi punch combo. Good, tough win for Williams.
Also, how come Floyd's name always comes up, even when he's not involved in the fight? The boxing world does not revolve around Floyd. Every topic shoud not result in someone kisssing his ass, or completely trashing him. It makes no sense.

Spinks was being threatened with a lawsuit from his mandatory, , , which is why the FMJ-Spinks fight didnt happen.
Fraud offered the fight to AM on very short notice, bushleague type move, but typical of her.
Arums offer was on the table when DLH said he was injured in the Mayo fight and would sit out, Fraud still pissed away the 8 mil offer even before Baldy beat Gatti - for all we know Gatti coulda beat Baldy - there would have been no use for FMj-Gatti II, and Spinks is a garbage style matchup - but Fraud doesnt give two shiits about giving the fans what they want anyway and thats why he did go after Spinks first.

The truth about Margarito-Williams is right up on boxrec. :good
Also, dont forget Williams had to throw 1200 punches to keep Margo off him and it almost didnt work!
Willams has allways been a high volume puncher so has margarito only problem is that margarito need someone in-front of him in order for him to be effective .. paul williams took a page out of danel soto book ,lots of punches and angeles, it the exact same strategy .

margo was same old margo in the williams fight, i sayed paul would win if he can take margos punches.paul won the fight because he had a chin and did not let margo run over him.
was margo all hype no but paul was not either, in fact i think margo is a beats but i think williams is a monster.not everyone could beat margo like paul did.but i still think he would be beat by cotto in a slugfest and out classed by mayweather.
he does what he does well but he is not hard to figgure out, he can be out boxed or fought.

this from the guy who thinks the Iraq war is a great idea. :tong
Don't forget, though, I'm upset we haven't dropped any nukes.
BOTTOM LINE: Margarito was OUTCLASSED by a superior fighter.
