It was an awesome fight, although that trilogy is overrated.
But....
Robinson-Gatti I > Ward-Gatti I

Yeah when i saw this fight on HBO back in '02 i had never watched boxing before and i was stunned. Ward-Gatti I is the reason i got into boxing and became an amateur boxer. To this day i'll watch the DVD i have of it and im still amazed.

I saw this fight for free and I thought Gatti was gonna cruise to a victory the way he fought in the early rounds.
I was then in shock for the spectacle I saw. I have never seen such a back forth match to the extent that Gatti-Ward exchanged blows, well not with that kind of ferocity anyway.
Great fight that took a lot out of both men.

Gatti Ward III was so one sided
The 2nd fight was even more one-sided.

The Gatti/Ward trilogy has to be the most overrated trilogy out there...

Yep, but the first bout was still a great fight.

The 3rd fight was good.I remember Ward dropped Gatti in the bout.
There fist bout wil go down as one of the most brutal fights ever in the history of boxing.
I've watched boxing for a long time and have never seen as many brutal exchanges in my life.
People were calling me screaming on the phone during that bout.I was left speechless.
Gatti/Ward did boxing proud that night.EVERYONE was talking about that bout.People who weren't even boxing fans were amamzed at that bout.
A few years latter I remember Mayweather calling Ward basically a clubfighter/bum.Thats when I lost all respect for Mayweather. To even call someone that after that type of fight they were in is pure stupidity.
Years from now people will still talk about that first Gatti-Ward bout.
Anytime someone says "what a hell of a fight" someone will probably say"if you think that was good you should see Gatt-Ward 1."

3000 years from now, in the islets of America, when the mode of fighting is grappling on the ground, one kid stumbles upon an old dvd. he began to watch it and saw two men hitting each other viciously and the world was changed again.

How often do you get Larry Merchant humbled? Never, except in Gatti/Ward I. Nuff said.
