“Ding-a-Ling Man” Calling Out Champs!
Promoter making belt holders’ phones ring, talking about the Ding-a-Ling.
July 16, 2007
Dino Duva co-promoter, along with Sal Musemeci’s Final Forum, of red-hot cruiserweight destroyer Darnell “Ding-A-Ling Man” Wilson (22-5-3, 19 KOs), says he is getting in touch with all the cruiserweight world champions to arrange a shot against one of them for his wildly popular fighter.
“He’s coming off the knockout of the year over Emanuel Nwodo. Before that he knocked out Daniel Judah, Dale Brown and Kelvin Davis in sensational consecutive fights. The Ding-a-Ling Man is a legitimate star in boxing and he has earned a title shot. He’s one of the most exciting fighters in the entire sport!”
Wilson agrees and admits he’s very eager to swap punches with one of the reigning cruiserweight champions. “My waist is ready for the belt to be around it. I want one of them to give me a chance. I want this bad and I deserve a shot.”
Duva says he expects the camps of Jean Marc Mormeck (WBC/WBA), Steve Cunningham (IBF) and/or Enzo Maccarinelli (WBO) to jump at the chance to face Wilson because of his tremendous marketability. “From a promotional standpoint, it’s very sellable because of all the spectacular things Darnell has done on national television. I’m willing to either promote the fight myself or work with the champions’ promoters to get this done.”
What Duva says he likes the most about the power-punching 32-year-old Ding-a-Ling Man, besides the fact that he has the sport’s best nickname, is his way of doing things.
“Darnell has earned the right to fight for a world title and he did it the way you’re supposed to. He went out there and knocked out all the other top contenders in highlight-reel fashion. Darnell has become one of the most recognizable television fighters in the sport today and I’m going to get him the title shot he deserves for all his great work. Ding-a-Ling has the whole package: Punch, Chin, Guts, Determination, and best all, Charisma. He is a big part of what makes the cruiserweights such an exciting division.”

Hey Ding, congratulations on an outstanding KO win. :thumbsup
I have been wondering though, what kind of purse do you get from fighting on TV?

Promoters are not likely to give shot to the fighter with big punch and middling record. This would take two more fights.
1) for top 5
2) title elimination
What about rematch with Tokarev?

I think everybody knows it is not an easy thing but I think last Ding's fight showed that he really needs to improve in those areas.
Straw poll: How many rounds till Ding would take out Macca?
I like to thinik it is one. One of the least deserving champs anywhere, imo.

the only problem with facing macca is that he will always have the ultimate punchers chance, that boy can really punch like a brute.

Look guys, I think that the art of boxing is more about how to evade a bomb, than how to take it. All the great fighters were able to outbox punchers. Ability to take a punch is important, but what is more important is how to avoid getting hit. That ability is what makes fighters great! That is why I enjoy watching good technical fighters and not the bar fights. And I can assure you that properly placed (or lucky) punch by almost any ranked fighter in heavyweight or cruiser division could knock out any opponent.

Well, maybe at 25 posts you will realize that Ding just took on arguably the biggest puncher in the CW division and took plenty of properly placed punches and walked right through them. The man's beard is fuckin granite!!!
We all understand that there are plenty of examples proving your point...as well as quite a few disproving it.
Fact is, Ding has proven to be able to take BOMBS and give em back just as bad.
Plus, and you being new may not be aware of this but, Ding visits the forum quite regularly and is a great fuckin guy........So, when Ding takes on one of these champs....he will have a whole army of backers on here.

In the words of Jules Winnfield, 'personality goes a long way'. Not just any old professional prizefighter gets who visits the forum gets love from ESB.

Macca is better than most give him credit for. He will step it up and show that against Braithwaite.

I guess the fact that I had 25 posts makes me less informed about Ding and his ability to fight? I've seen him fight and I like his entertaining boxing style, powerpunches, solid chin and heart. I know that he is a great guy and nobody takes it away from him. All I tried to say is that he didn't fight the best yet and if you look at his opponents records, including Nwodo, their W's and KO's are not agains the best fighters either.
I think that Ding well deserved his chance for the title bout and he is doing right thing challenging the titleholders - great for him!
And 1500+ posts doesn't mean anything except loads of free time and obvious boxing addiction (in good sense).
