I was impressed with both fighters last night. Steve Forbes suprised me in how spirited he fought all the way to the last round, he didn't look any smaller than Mosley. I don't know if DLH carried him but DLH looked damn good, almost fighting in a throwback style in stance and movement like he had when he was younger. He didn't gas out but kept the pace he had from round 1. He didn't rely on total power shots as he did with Mayweather but let the jab set up everything else. This fight was a nice suprise to me cuz I was really expecting a Gomez to walk into his own bloodbath. I'm really looking forward to seeing Forbes fight again and looking forward to seeing how Floyd and DLH do together if DLH fights in his natural style and Floyd lets punches go.

It was boring. I started playing Wii after the 7th round.

Boring fight? I'm sure you guys enjoyed watching Gomez stand still an look confused while Cotto used him as a punching bag? Of course, DLH couldn't knock him out early. If he did there would be so many hate threads on ESB right now. Oscar used the fight as a warm up and Forbes turned it into a good fight. Both fighters were throwing and landing from roun 1 to round 12. How is that boring?

I'm not the one having a hard time enjoying a fight because there was no blood or knock downs in it.

KO we were all looking for didn't happen but Forbes brought it to him. Pretty damn good fight. I was entertained. Better than Floyd/Oscar, and I'm a Floyd fan first and foremost.

I'm glad ko didn't happen because what I was watching for was whether or not Hoya can go twelve rounds while being very busy in the early rounds without gassing out later. Now, we know throwing and missing is what really tires you out, not being hit. Hoya threw many punches, often landing and often not landing and often getting hit. But his stamina remained and he didn't go flat footed which is what he does when he simply tries to overpower an opponent like in Floyd fight. I was also watching for whether or not Hoya could stay in control. He is a natural finisher and his bloodlust often gets in the way of his own efforts (round 6 of Quartey fight best example, the whole Floyd fight a good example). When Oscar remains calm and boxes he looks damn great.

Agree 100%, not sure if it was a case of non-expectacion on my part
as I was not even looking forward to this fight but IMO Forbes put on a more exciting performance than Floyd's safety-first approach!

Just a couple of days, that ban was over about a week ago.

Hadn't posted cause I was pretty busy(It's amazing how many things you can accomplish when you stay away from this place:lol: )

Yep it was basically surprise on my part, I was just expecting Forbes to get blown out but after the first 2 rounds I was thinking holy shit we got a fight.. and boy did Stevie watch them DLH/Floyd tapes. He copied some combos from Floyd.. Stevie can't deny that shit.

I understand a lot of people here scored the fight very similar to the judges. I'm shocked TBH. I haven't caught the HBO version yet but reading the comments over here I get the impression that some were swayed by the Steward's nuthuggery. 120-108 my ass. I credited Forbes with 4 rounds. He gave a damn good account of himself.

:good He looked good but some people can't appreciate that because, he was fighting a smaller fighter. I was impressed with his stamina and punch output into the later rounds. Floyd will be a different story but we all know he knows that and will make adjustment and step it up.

I thought is was a good watchable fight. No thriller but didnt think it was boring.

Forbes impressed me, I thought he would b stopped but he is very cute defensively and obviously has a granite chin. Oscar always look better against aggressive fighter rather than the counter punching boxer. If I wa De La Hoya Idstay away from Floyd Mayweather. If he wants to retire on a high I suggests he concentrate on the current champs at 154!
