True.
It baffles me how some people still have DLH winning or drawing that fight. I admit, I was a bit confused watching live because of the biased crowd cheering for Oscar and the biased commentary, but when I watched the fight again it was clear as day. Even if you give every single remotely close round to Oscar he lost 7-5. To be fair it was more like 8-4.

Agreed.
Most "experts" and objective boxing fans scored it 8-4 for PBF. At worst, 7-5. It's only the Oscarsexuals who had Oscar winning.

Dude this idea that somehow Oscar was close to winning is like the biggest myth circulating among the boxing community and its "fans". That Oscar lost because he stopped throwing his jab. I was in a thread a few days ago where quite a few members of this website had the fight even going into the 10th. I dont know how they score fights, or if they think punching someones arms should count as effective aggression but yeah this view is not uncommon at all.
I myself couldnt see giving Oscar more the 4 rounds. I tried to, I really did but I just cant score a round for a fighter who doesnt hit the other guy.

Beautiful footage. I love reminding people who say PBF didn't hurt Oscar in that fight and this gif proves it. PBF made Oscar respect his power and Oscar held when he got caught. Absolute master at countering, accuracy and great defense all in one gif. How can you not love it?:happy :happy :happy

He was stunned but quickly regained balance and stability. The second punch would've been a left hook most likely to the forehead or straight on the face, a short left hook off Floyds heals....it would not have necessarily dropped him.

I don't think Oscar was hurt at all in that sequence. He was coming forward and ran into a clean shot that knocked him off balance. I do think he was hurt from a left hook to the body in the 9th or 10th round, though.

I think floyd is a great champion and fighter. The thing wrong with him is you have to watch four rounds of him not doing anything in order to get those two punches in your gif. Sure, a job done is a job done, and that's the end of it. But I like a little more action in my fighters.

Watch that clip in real time, DLH is definatley not hurt, you can slow up alot of punches and see the guy whos been hit body do alot of things you missed first time around.
I scored it for Floyd first time around then scored it a draw, if anybody deserved the decision it was Mayweather but it was a close fight.

:huh The same way it baffles Oscar fans that some people say Floyd dominated, when in fact he struggled and barely beat an inactive part time fighter. Oscar held his own until he faded and abondoned the jab,but clearly to say Floyd dominated and hurt Oscar enroute to an easy victory is ridiculous.

Hey surreal, i havent realy heard that many people 'rate' fighting off the ropes, none the less, i believe fighting of the ropes is an artform, that when perfected is just another weapon to your arsenal (and PBF has plenty of them). Just like trapping ur opponent against ring is a weapon (what katsidis should have done more of against casa :blood ). Boxing is about using what weapons u have to get the job done. And he does it.

I was rooting for oscar big time, but he really didn't land much of anything. He threw a lot but it was 90% blocked, parried, slipped. He had maybe a few legitimately good rounds, but thats it. Floyd was picking him off and potshotting him all night - even though, to DLH's credit, Floyd wasn't landing that easily either.

05-07-2008, 08:42 AM
I like to see a good technical boxer make his aggressor miss, get him out of position and land some crisp counter-shots. Floyd did it to Oscar, Hopkins did it to Calzaghe, JMM did it to Pac - what came up in the aftermath of these was that the three top p4pers won split decisions. I guess that the judges felt that Floyd was more effective on the back foot than JMM or B-Hops were (?)...
